Arsenal Message Board
Interesting reading, and just about proved what most of us have been saying for years that Fergie did spent quite alot of money in assembling Man U's squad contrary to the blinkered belief by some of their fans.
Man U (£291.72million) have spent almost as much as Chelsea (£319.75million) 'at the cut-off date of May 31, 2013' if Torres is excluded from the Chelsea squad according to the latest research findings. Not surprising really.
We all know that Barca are notorious for paying less than the true market value for their players through their underhand scheming (Barca DNA and all other nonsense that they spout to unsettle other teams players) in the market, therefore the fact that they come out on top in the *most valuable squad* chart isn't a surprise. Having the most expensive player (Lionel Messi) in their squad also helps in that respect, a player they bought for peanut and brought up in their academy.
The team that really caught my attention is the Borussia Dortmund squad, I was amazed to find out that Jurgen Klopp only spent £51.43million to assemble his squad and they would have topped the *value* chart if the huge discrepancy caused by the inclusion of Messi in Barca's squad is accounted for.
Analysts at the Football Observatory research centre in Switzerland stated that the most valuable squads in England belong to Arsenal, assemble by Arsene Wenger 'for £168million but is worth £269million, indicating Arsenal have improved the players collectively to the tune of £101million.' .........Not bad eh!
Today's Daily Mail have some of the detailed breakdown in the research findings, btw.

"Anyone can spin a story to suit their purposes"
True, but what's in it for this Swiss based organisation? Why would they lie? Just doesn't make sense to me why they would twist things being a Swiss based research.
I can understand that argument if they are Spanish based organisation, not Swiss..

The same old 'Arsenal has no money so cannot compete' blarney. You really do swallow that one hook, line and sinker, don't you Slayer.
Let's ignore Arsenal has spent more than United in the last two seasons.
Let's ignore Arsenal has made large amounts from selling players over the last few seasons yet refuses to reinvest properly.
"ALL the aforementioned players would have smashed Arsenal's club record transfer fees for big money signing" - not all but even so, it just shows up Wenger for what he is; tight with limited ambition.
But then United invest to win; Arsenal do neither.
Fergie was a smart business man it must be said. Say what you wont about him personally but he was the greatest manager and it shall be very interesting to see how they do under Moyes.
Personally I dont care how much value they raise in players or how much they DONT spend, I want to see good football and challenging for trophies, not 4th place. Anything less is failure for us. There will no excuse for me this season, but I kow people will keep saying were making progress and this is all part of the ten year plan. In 5 years time theyll still have excuses, as well as less ambition. Its call acclimating the little people and its a successful strategy thats been implemented by people in power since the beginnings of the civilized world. Baaa baa
