Qualifying for the CL proper has been getting harder and harder. Fenerbahce is not a team to take lightly although we should win over the 2 legs. It does raise the question for me, with all the money that could be lost if we don't qualify for the CL by beating them, why didn't we bring in some top players to reduce the risk of missing out on all the CL cash?
What if we lose Kos or Mert or Giroud against City? Not to have signed Higauin, a keeper and a midfield stud and or CB before training resumed seems such a bug risk.
If we don't qualify for the CL because Fenerbahce beats us and Giroud misses a few good chances or Fabianski blunders won't we wonder what could have been if we had signed a top striker and Cesar?
Bony scored twice for Swansea in their Qualifying.
We are playing with fire not to mention that we can stop dreaming about signing top players if we lose our opening game and don't qualify.
It seems penny wise pound foolish.
It will be very hard for us to win away in Turkeys hellish stadia. Hopefully we can get an away goal in a probable close defeat and scrape through at home in all likelihood.
Overall it is not preferable preparations for the season that would be easily avoided by a better performance in the league henceforth.
