farrari tactics in turkey to cost shumi the title

at the risk of talking to myself, i thought id post my thoughts here about ferrari's stacked pitstop in turkey under the safety car.
when the torro rosso spun, there were no marshalls anywhere near (couldnt help but notice that was a problem the whole race,) and with liuzzi not getting out of the car the saftey car was ovbviously going to be deployed. at that point, ferrari were still 1/2 and it was immediatly apparent that alonso would jump shumi if they all pitted, which would have been the norm.
however this was not a normal situation. shumacher HAD to finnish ahead of alonso and there was no way to guarantee an overtake later. massa is the number 2 driver, and by his own admission was there to support shumi in winning the title.
to my mind the obvious move to make at that point was pit shumi first and leave massa out a lap. they didnt need to pit on the same lap since if the race had been normal they would be pitting on different laps anyway, and it is clear that neither driver would run out of fuel if they didnt. massa still had the fastest car and could have worked his way into a usefull position (certainly finnishing ahead of fissi in 6th i would have thought,) and shumi would have been able to dictate the rest of the race. by stacking as they did the result was inevitable.
the only comment i have seen was from todt, suggesting that they couldnt do that because it would have ruined massa's race. so what? he is the number 2, thats what hes there for. they would have swapped over if shumacher was in 2nd anyway, we all know that.
now, was it a tactical error, or politics playing out on the track? todt's son manages massa, and has talked him up after the race. does anyone believe shumacher will accept kimmi as his team mate? no chance. with some real competition we all know how shumi drives.
in my opinion, shumi is gone from f1 already, and ferrari are just giving him the final shove
    cheers

    • Lets hope so!!!
F1 is getting pretty dull and needs some new winners...
and better racing in general IMHO. Too predictable "race
after race". Button was/is the hilite of the season finally
losing the monkey of his back. G-F-Him. Hope FW and Honda
      get serious again.

    • you couldn't be more on the ball, who cares about Massa, ferrari blew it and I believe its all political. The question you have to ask yourself is why? why ruin Michaels race to save Massa's race ,it don't make any sense. He is a championship fight and your #2 has to make way for him.Shame on Ferrari and shame on Jean Todt and his son.I hope Michael goes to Renault in 2007 and wins a championship, and rubs it in the face of the Ferrari managment.BOO THAT STINKS!

It's a sad state of affairs when we all know that #$%$-makker has to resort to being let through by his number two to win the title.

He's not a patch on Senna who actually raced at a time when team mates tried to beat each other.

The sooner he is out of F1 and forgotten the better.
