    schumi the greatest ever

wht are we discussing here???his records speak for the person he is......there is no one in the world that can challenge him.......if he has used tactics thts part of the game.....its a war out ther & he is not in the sport to make friends!!!! he is in the sport because he is capable & a pure genius..........he is a thorough driver......no doubt.........schumi is loved & hated by equal number of ppl bt wht most forget tht he is a RACER......& whn he is in his car all the others are his rivals & he out performs most of them........even in his dull year '05 he stood by his team & they bounced back & the best part was tht he accepted the facct of his failure in tht season.......tht is wht great people made up of..........schumi will without doubt be the greatest driver of all time & will be missed by all.........

    • Schumacher is a great for sure, but i don't think the greatest. Not even the greatest German driver.....think Rudolf Caracciola.

I don't think you can judge the best simply by looking at their records like race wins etc. it has to be remembered that drivers compete in more grand prix now than they used to, also the cars are much more reliable and the life expectancy is a lot longer.

I think Schumacher would have thrived in most eras of Grand Prix and probably the greats from the past would have excelled in the current era.

Just one more thing, i can't understand why some people use this site to spout a torrent of abuse at one another....all you succeed in doing is making yourself look dull. By all means disagree with what someone has written, but if you write more coherently you may get a few more people to agree with your point.

    • Ayrton - Ayrton - Ayrton - Shumacher would have won at least two less championship if Ayrton hadn't killed himself. Have you ever seen footage of Schumacer on the podium after Senna's death not even a hint of respect

    • A couple of good points but a cheat is a cheat. Sport is not about cheating. A tue genius he is but has spoiled his name by cheating.

    • schumacher was the most arrogant driver ever.

    • While I have the utmost respect for the discilpine and professionalism employed by Schumacher in the forging of his remarkable record, I have to take issue with those who consider him a "racer." Michael was a blindingly quick, super-intelligent driver, no question. But how many of his races did he win by good pit-stop strategy and not good race craft? How often did crippling rule changes inexplicably favour Ferrari? How often did he face an equal in the same car? Finally, how many stood to genuinely challenge him? While his brilliace is clear to see, Michael would not have won 7 titles if he had driven ten years earlier with the likes of Prost, Senna, Mansell, Piquet and Lauda to compete with. And unlike all of them, Schumacher never faced a rival of equal talent in the same machine. 2005 proved that when rule changes didn't favour Ferrari, the Scuderia were slow to respond. And while 2006 demostrated much of Schumacher's guile and ability e.g. Brazil, Rasscasse showed us that Michael always broke the rules when he felt pressurized by a competitor. Brilliant - Yes... The greatest genius in the history of F1 - Sorry that title belongs to Ayrton Senna...

    • Sorry but alonso has yet to be helped by banned traction control or his fuel filter being removed(94 schumacher),creashes with senna or hill or d.c. or j.v. or montoya, help from a slave team mate ie irvine or rubens or massa, helped by ferrari b-team orders, helped by biased monza marshalls, helped by the fia or bernie, and not to mention all the complaints from ferrari when a rival team has a better piece of equipment than they do rather than rise to the challange.
and has yet to park his car neatly on the track in monaco!!
and as for the greatest - SENNA !!!

    • Alonso...ha ha ha..the 1st race of this season shows how lucky alonso to finish no.2 and the third race proved he is not that great coz even heidfield with his unreliable car passed him......i'm sure he would have started moaning n complaining about the team car.....he won in renault coz he had this team mate who will block averyone at the back to allow him shoot up in front.....renault gave 100% for this idiot.....n he left to mercedes.. hamilton the rookie much more impressive F1 driver than this pathethic Alonso.............
