  • Did anyone else see that when Viso had his accident the SC lights were already flashing. Saw this from the incar from Negrao car. Probably means the cars infront of Viso were slowing down because of the SC lights and Viso didn't slow down as quickly.

    • This "no marshals = no motorsport" #$%$ is a load of #$%$. Sort of like the cleaning bloke at the hospital that makes sure the the operating theatre is germ-free saying "without me there's no hospital."

I've looked in on your posts, and you rarely seem to be able to type anything without reminding everyone that you're a marshal, as if that makes you some sort of racing expert. And, you often make it sound that in your view, the marshals are more important, or as important than the contestants.

If you really believe the "no marshals = no motorsport" tripe, turn it around. No motorsport = no marshals. I have known a few of you chaps, and the reason I've never had a go at being an official is that, to a man, they are the most self-important over bearing humourless lot I've ever come across.

Just shows how much you know about the sport. ALL the drivers I have met in 20 years of marshalling say the same. Without the marshals they wouldn't be able to race. Without the marsha;ls who would deal with crashed cars, put out the fires, write reports warn drivers about hazzards, cut them out of the cars etc? Have ago and see why one driver recently called us 'The Angles in Orange'

We do have a sense of humour. It is very warped compared to some but it has to be with the things we see.

    • sceffwunI have to agree with art1. Seems silly to have the top racing series in the world rely on such an outdated mode of communication. Be kind of like us communicating by morse code. Flags have been missed throughout history by top echelon drivers such as Mansell. With all of the electronics in a modern race car, it ought to be easy to come up with a system that would allow the driver to concentrate solely on the matter at hand and not worry about whether some silly bugger is waving a blue flag or not. And don't get me started on that. The inconsistancies of blue flags are huge.

      >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

At FIA meetings race control tells the flag marshals when to put out the blue flags. All race control have to go on are tv pictures. Also those 'silly buggers' that wave the flags are putting their lives at risk for no pay so that you can watch motorsport. No marshals = no motorsport. Why don't you have a go at marshalling and see how difficult it is? Just go to www.marshals.co.uk and see what it is all about.

I say again who has better view of the track conditions, race control in their air conditioned building looking at the circuit via CCTV or the marshals on the bank in the elements? Of course the marshal has the better view. You can't decide on what needs a blue flag via a CCTV screen you need to be a trained flag marshal on the bank reading the race. The Blue is also the most difficult flag to use. Before you critise the unpaid volunteers that are marshals have a go and see it what it is all about

    • Yeah really bad crash the way the car landed upside down on the wall, appently his injuries are not critical (hurt chest and arm i think)
