McLaren is right: we need consistent FIA sentences

McLaren is right to appeal the Brazil results. We need consistency yo avoid confusion and the wrong people winning someone else's title.

Hence, if confirmed irregular, the cars of Kubica and Rosberg should be banned from the result, just like McLaren Mercedes for the 2007 season.

Of course, for the sake of consistency, the drivers Kubica and Rosberg should retain their points, just like Hamilton and Alonso, for not being responsible for their teams mistakes.

That would guarantee fairness and equal treatment to all involved. What, Ron? you want the points taken from the Williams and BMW drivers? why? why should they be treated differently than YOUR drivers, Ron?

This entire appeal story is another low in McLaren Mercedes history.... it seems they really don't know when to call it a day. Losers, losers, losers.

    • If it was a McLaren car involved everyone would be baying for blood.

Fairest way to judge this particular issue would be to calculate the advantage gained to see how much it actually affected the outcome of the race - it may be that they would still have finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton or it may be that they would have finished behind him. I agree that the drivers should not be penalised for something that is not their fault but their points should be awarded according to where they SHOULD have finished in the field.

To all the McLaren Bashers out there - the 2007 season is over - stop your sniping and move on!

      • I agree with you Forever England...the drivers should still keep their points but as you say if it had been McLaren..well we know what would happen.
I can't believe all the different posts..slagging Hamilton and McLaren off..I notice most of them are from people that never post on here or very seldom do...they all sound like bloody kids in a playground just jumping on the bandwagon...some of them are pathetic...for f**k sake grow up.
The less said about Alonso the better with all the comments he has come out with... he is just trying to save his own arse. Hamilton has said he does not want the title without winning it on the track and want McLaren to drop the appeal...what else is this kid supposed to do. It would not suprise me if in a few years Ferrari will be after him
Lets hope 2008 will be a season without all the politics and be as closer run for the title as this year
Congratulations to Kimi..he and Massa drove a faultless race and deserved the result

    • its like this, alonso and lewis were given immunity from punishment for cooperating with the court. specifically, alonso provided the evidence that proved he was "cheating" and lewis signed a legal affidavit that stated he had no knowlege of the whole incident. not becuase it wanst the drivers fault, blatently because one of the drivers was at fault, if there was really any in the first place.
in the past, when there have been clear technical infingements, the whole team has been punished (hondas dodgy fuel tank is probably the best recent example.) that was up until last year with renaults moving balast (almost the same offence) and the whole flexi wing thing that people are forgetting already. all the way up until austrailia this year this was happening. then mclaren started winning again. ah the old enemy..
specifically about his incident, the stewards are saying that compared to the official track side temp (the one you see on the live timing) the fuel temp was ok, but the one they specifically sourced themselves through a contractor was different and presumably higher. having thought about it they decided the rules say the track side one is the official temp and are ignoring the one they paid for. ie there is no case to answer. mclaren say there are 2 specific things wrong with the decision.
now if they get that decision changed, there is no rules to say what should happen, but taking that honda example, it should be cut and dried. however the way things have gone last couple of years, the rules dont really matter as much as the overall 'show' and so they will never take those drivers points away.
if you look at cycling, the pinacle of which is the tour de france. the winner of last years race is still being decided in court, and this years will probably be the same. its killing the whole sport.
but remember it was ferraris APPEAL against the initial ruling that got mclaren chucked out. when ferrari did that they were effectively saying we cant win because you cheated. mclaren are not alowed to say the same of another team? i guess not. mclaren will call it a day when they have made their appeal and found out the result. wasnt it todt who said they would continue to persue it throught the civil courts even if the appeal fails? in fact even when their appeal was successful.. maybe ferarri decided to call it a day when they were given assurances they would be allowed to win the drivers title too ;)

    • 100% agree. I think I read it's been like that years ago

    • i agree with u 100% u r right when they judge on mclaren they kept the points for drivers and why now mr ron is doing this?is this fair?no he is stupid he is like a scorpion when is near fire he try to do anything and at the end he will kill himself just like mr ron is killing the championship and the F1 SPORT MR RON GO GROW UP AND THEN COME BACK WITH UR SPOILED BABY(HAM) AND AFTER DOING THAT GET READY FOR ASS KICKED AGAIN BY KIMMI LOOSER...........

      • well, said Frank and screamer....i wish before he lodge that appeal,he would looked back before their constructors been stripped away...it was not the drivers fault so why punish them...
the way i see there is definite prferential treatment in their team...i was wondering what if it was alonso in the place of hamilton, would they do the same, lodge an appeal so alonso can get the championship??...
