Good point paddock but I don't think that Renault to get off without any punishment at all and (as far as I've heard) no mention that anyone will be checking on whether they intend to use the information they have.
The whole story has a distinct smell of Max having a go at Ron, and Alonso basically blackmailing everyone into getting what he wants - his old job back. All the pieces fell into place so nicely that it can't be pure chance.
Your reaction is exactly the same as my initial reaction when McLaren were found guilty but not punished in July. As I've said elsewhere, I then realised the remit of the FIA & that, without proof of use which may lead to a sporting advantage, they cannot punish. Once I realised that I could see why McLaren weren't punished after the first hearing. As far as we know at the moment, the Renault case is the same.
I get the feeling some people here think I'm taking a pro Renault, anti McLaren attitude. It's not that at all. I'm just looking at what we know & trying to apply the same outlook to both cases.
I think there's a lot of confusion around between not liking the outcome (which is an opinion everyone is entitled to) & trying to say that the WMSC have acted differently for McLaren & Renault - thereby being biased - which I can't see they have.
If McLaren have proof which they can take back to the WMSC then, if proven, Renault should, like McLaren, be punished.
I think everyone gets much too paranoid about Max. I can't say I like the guy but he's only one vote amongst many on these issues. I think he's often just an easy target for everybody when the FIA does anything we don't agree with.
