How much does a riders clothes and equiptment etc cost?

I'm a female junior cyclist going to do my first race at the end of next month. I was wondering how much generally does all a riders equipment, clothes and bikes cost in total? Thanks

    • I guess if you're racing you're a member of a club? Ask around the people who race there about gear.

Even if not, if you're on a tight budget it's probably well worth checking out what bits you can get second hand too, especially for training.

      Cheers,

    • Kate,

In response to your question, it depends on how much you've got to spend!!

For me, I had a budget of £3,000.00 and it broke down something like this....

      Bike: Cannondale Supersix £2,499.00
      Clothing: Bibshorts £74.99
      Jersey £44.99
      Socks £12.99
      Cycling Shoes: £214.99
      Shimano Ultegra Pedals: £64.99
      Cycling Computer: £39.99
      Bottlecage(s) £14.99 each
      Bidons (Bottles) £8.99 each

      TOTAL: £2999.90

I even got 10p change (which didn't change my life)

I suppose for a junior you may be able to get things alot cheaper. Just shop around, work out what you can afford to spend on a bike and accessories and don't be afraid to ask for a discount - most cycling shops will be glad for your custom and will be only to happy to help and advise you!!

      Hope this helps!!
