Luis Garcia and who else to go?

He has got to go. Yes, he can be brilliant but more often then not he gives the ball away trying to be too flash or taking too many touches. He was appaling yesterday.
    Who else should go????

    • He didn't have a good game but you need to suggest who you would bring in for him (no good just bombing people out)?

Who do you think we could realistically get to take his place?

      • Bigevo...Quick reply to your message...No,I was not born in Liverpool,I come originally from Northern Ireland.

Whilst I fully admire your post and sentiments,I would like to point out that it is impossible for all LFC fans to come from Scouseland.I,like you, love LFC...but the fact that I was born outside of Liverpool does not mean that I am an unknowledgeable fan.

If only true Scousers understand LFC then what about names like Paisley,Dalglish,Shankly,Houllier,Benitez etc, etc. They don`t come from Liverpool either but know/knew the club inside out.

Like you I have followed Liverpool for many years, through thick and thin, and will never turn my back on them.Guess that makes me loyal. However,I still don't think that criticising players(in this case Crouch)shows disloyalty.I simply want LFC to have the best players and don't think that Crouch comes into this category.Whilst he remains a Liverpool player I will still want him to do well...it`s just that I feel we could have a better player in the striker's position.

        Look forward to your reply...

    • little luis is the best header of the ball at the club he also can produce that bit of magic unlike zenden and kewelle who can both leave. they have tried and failed to impress me

    • No-one, it was just one of those days.

Garcia was very poor, but not sure he will go. Crouch?? Are getting back to the boo-boy days of when he first joined us?? The only reason he had a bad game on Saturday was that he didn't get the service he needs to thrive - he was having to come and get the ball deep and that is not the type of player he is.

      • I am neither making Crouch a scapegoat for the loss against Arsenal nor am I getting back to the boo-boy mentality of when he first came to Anfield. My main point is that I don't like him as a player, can see major weaknesses in his game and would therefore prefer him to be at another club.

Unfortunately I have to disagree with the thoughts of some fans who seem to stick come what may to the "made in the red of Liverpool" label. When you buy something in life you have to look at the quality of the article as well as the label.Crouch doesn't have that quality in my opinion, and indeed he's not alone from the current squad in that respect.

Sorry if this sounds too critical and not loyal enough to others...after all I'm only expressing an honest point of view.Crouch still gets my support when he plays...(I would love him to get a hat-trick every time and prove me wrong)...but I simply feel he is not good enough to play for us and indeed never will be good enough.

      • I don't know what to make of Luis Garcia, he has done some great things but surely Rafa can have a word and just ask him to keep the ball sometimes. Honestly a Sunday League player would have looked as good as he did on Saturday, but I'm sure over the next couple of weeks he'll have a good game again. Comparing him to Ronaldo at United is a bit deluded though. I hate Man U but Ronaldo is fantastic, 10 x better than Garcia. Also with Crouch, I'm struggling to be certain what sort of service he needs. I think it might be balls just above waist height and slightly behind him so he can getin his scissor kicks. He needs five or six clean chances in the air for each headed goal, which is pathetic, and he is never going to stretch a defence and get in behind. He'll do for now but isn't honestly top drawer. The only top drawer players we have are Gerrard, Carragher, Alonso, Riise, with Agger to join them I predict. Those four would get in any Prem side. We have several others who are good don't get me wrong such as Sami, Finnan, Bellamy, Momo but too many players with things to prove ie. Pennant (I think he will get more consistently impressive), Gonzalez, Kewell, Zenden, Fabio etc etc. I have to say as well the hero of istanbul had a 'mare on Saturday. Poor Jerzy!! Lets get behind them and see the season out, the January transfer window is a terrible time to be buying new players, (a) they have no time to adapt to the prem or the pattern of play and (b) more often than not you pay over the odds.

    • Zenden but keep Garcia.
With regard to the Arsenal game it would have been very different if we had got the penalty for the foul on Alonso.
I hope GOD plays on Tuesday.

    • If everytime we lost a match we fired a player, then we would not have any player left by the end of the season. We as supporters have to learn to celebrate our victories and and accept our defeats with grace and dignity.

I am sure that the very people criticising Garcia and Crouch were the very people jumping up and down when first Garcia scored the only goal against Tottenham and Crouch scored the wonderful goal against Bolton. There does not have to be a scapegoat to blame every time we lose. NO team can win each and every match. Not even all the money in the world can make You win each and every match (ask Mourinho).

We played Arsenal and lost....... Get over it. There is still a lot to play for. Castigating and criticising players does not change the result.

    • You!!!!, stop bitchin like a manc, if you think like that, shud carra go, coz his so called tackle for henry's goal was the biggest school boy error ever seen in the professional game,

      • Let us be fair. We come to this message board to read and to express the joy and frustration on Liverpool because it is the team we support. That is it.

Whatever we write will not make any impact to the performance of the team. I doubt very much whether Rafa or anyone of his training squad is reading this board, only amongst supporters like us. We are here to share our feelings as a supporter. It is natural for us to be joyful when Liverpool is doing well, and equally we will be frustrated when some players are making mistakes.

Every message written by a Liverpool supporter is worth reading.

    • Let me ask you a question:

Do you think it's constructive to suggest a player should go ? Do you think your opinion will make a difference ?

I can tell you it won't.

I have supported Liverpool FC for over 35 years, and not once have I come across so many experts suggesting how to run our beloved LFC.

I think the best thing we as fans can do, is start getting behind our team, because negativity only breeds negativity.

Luis Garcia is something of an enigma.
At times he can be annoying, other times he is a genius.
Personally, I couldnt care less if he gives the ball away 20 times, then on his 21st pass, he takes the piss out of someone like rio ferdinand, and slots in one of the best goals to grace anfield.
Thats what makes someone a genius. That ONE moment.
      C. Ronaldo at Manure is the same.

Yes they are frustrating to watch, but when they get it right, it makes you glad they play for us.

I believe that Rafa Benitez has put together a great squad, and once he strengthens in this transfer window, we can go on to better things.
Only a fool would question Rafa's thinking. Thats why he is wanted by teams such as Real madrid.

So please, instead of trying to rubbish players, give them your support. Thats why you are called a supporter.
Because you give support to your team. And the players in your team.

      • Well said and well written!!

      • I've been supporting Liverpool for over 40 years
When Bill Shankly arrived he wanted a solid spine
He brought in Lawrence in goal
        Yeats in defence
        and St John up front
and we went on to rule the world

We need a top class goalie
We need a top class defender
        Hyppia is getting past it
        Agger is inexperienced
We desperately need a top class striker

      • Just a quick point about Garcia, do you realize that for the last 2 seasons he has been the best foreign goal scorer, 2004/05 equal top with Baros and Gerrard.
2005/06 finished 4 best goal scorer for Liverpool, again in double figures, 11.
2006/07 So far this season hes tied in third with 6 goals.
As for the current squad of players there are only 2 guys above him in the goals table, both English, Fowler and Gerrard.
Arguably our most consistent foreign player over the past 2-2 years , in the getting goals and hardly anyone likes him, strange.

      • Yes,but the point is that when you criticise a player you are NOT criticising the manager or the club.I have supported Liverpool for around 30 years and want them to win as much as you do.However,my loyalty to the club does not make me blind, and I can certainly see that some players are not really good enough to be in the red shirt. To say this does not make me disloyal or a Judas,it actually makes me honest.

Let's face it...if we had 11 Djimi Traores playing for us the fans would know that things weren't up to scratch.I,like you, would continue to be a supporter and hope to win every game...it's just that sometimes you have to be realistic in life.

Rafa will be successful for Liverpool in the future, especially if he gets a bit more financial clout, but let's not kid ourselves right now...we do not quite have what it takes. That is the point of this particular post...for fans to say who they feel could leave and indeed who possible replacements could be.Criticism can also be constructive you know.

      • i totaly agree you bigevo, success wont happen overnight and we all have to get behind the team, because rafa will get it right and when he does it will be worth the wait.

    • For me it has to be Crouch.I never wanted us to sign him in the first place, and have seen little to change my mind.
The guy simply has no pace,is a poor header of the ball, cannot take on a defender and most certainly is not a 20 goals in the Prem type of forward.
I also don't like our tendency to hit it long when he plays.
Don't want to slag the guy off, because he tries his hardest and has scored some good goals for us.Just don't think he has the quality to wear the Liverpool shirt.
