  • He would be a good link up player for Kuyt or Crouch. Yes he has stated a few times that if he came to the Prem Liverpool would be his main wish as his best friend(Xabi) plays there and would find it easier to settle in because of the amount of spanish players but david Villa has recently come out and said that as well.
And if we had to choose either of them would be happy with who ever as with Torres at Athletico he is the main man the main star, where if comes to liverpool he would'nt have that pressure as we have Stevie G and Carra, so he could just play his game.
With Villa I do think he would be PERFECT partner for Kuyt as their game styles are simular so they would be able to read each others game better.

    • personnally i would rather see carlos tervez at liverpool, i'm not convinced a good striker in spain will always make it in the premiership. examples being morientes and diego forlan, who both come a cross a good strikers in la liga !

    • I'm sorry to say that if Villa would be the PERFECT partner to Kuyt, then we're in deep shit as Kuyt can't control, can't shoot, can't score and nevermind the 2 goals against Wigan. His workrate is Ok but apart from that he's not a Liverpool class player. Maybe next year he might improve a tad but I wouldn't expect much from him. I like the guy cause he's very down to earth but he'll probably be like all other strikers we recently had like Diouf, cisse, Baros. If I had to get a 20+ striker, I would go for Obafemi Martins at Newcastle. Anyways, Torres is one class act and with Stevie and Xabi delivering, we might be a side to reckon with..

      • Before you begin to moan about Kuyt, here are some facts, he has been put in a position behind the main striker for most of the season, more of an attacking midfielder/second striker. This position is foreign to him as in Feyonoyed(Spelt wrong I know) he was the front man the main striker.
When he has been the main striker he has scored(Reading,Bolton,Wigan,Newcastle), so before you start saying he ain't got shit watch all the facts.
Drogba first season goals in the prem=10
Kuyt first season goals in the prem=12.
Drogba played nearly all the season and was front man for all those games.
Kuyt has been in the Rafa rotation policy and mainly been used in the positions I mentioned earlier.
Now if we get Villa someone who can play in both roles then we will have Kuyt as our main man, or Villa and between them watch the goals flow.

      • I still say that we should test the water with a bid for Henry.I know the chances are slim but with the problems at Arsenal at the moment it may be worth a punt, and Arsenal fans seem to be continually debating his worth to the team-madness- so the time may be right.

I agree with patrick.I like Kuyt's workrate he is a genuine 100%er but his first touch does need to be improved but time will tell.

Whoever we go for they have to be able to have the physicality to survive in the Premiership but the skill to score goals..Morientes had the skill but couldn't cope physically..i have a concern that Villa will be the same.

All i do know is that 25/30m bricks is a lot of money we'd better get it right!
