Are Liverpool going to at least Try and Challenge us Next Season

I just red a remark by Red Shadow, saying you will be spending in the Summer and Going for the League.

HAHAHAHAHA, never heard that before HAHAHAHA. Are Liverpool seriously going for the League NEXT season, are you getting a new Manager then ?

You people say that EVERY season, the last time you won it you all had Perms, taches & Shell suits and Barry Grant was the Liverpool tough guy.

My how the years have rolled by.

    • Its all opinion, but couple holes I think I can push through in your comments. People always have a go at Rafa for being a cup manager only, but forget that he's won the league in Spain, while using the so called "rotation policy" which is a myth by the way.

They also only focus on the last 4 or 5 games of the season and say he only focuses on the CL. While its true we took the foot of the gas last year, and rested key players on Saturday against Fulham, why should this surprise anyone, when its impossible for us to win the prem. Fact is all managers in the same position would do the same thing. Looking at only the last few games, also conveniently forgets a certain FA cup win 2 seasons ago (when obviously we could not have been only focusing on CL), and the fact we went all guns blazing this season, but fell short with too many draws, and then a slump in Dec/Jan. If you actually look at LFC and AFC seasons, they are not that different overall. You ran out of gas in March, while we ran flat in Dec and Jan, but picked back up again to be in contention for silverware.

Question for this season is, would you rather be off the pace in prem, but still for a chance for silverware or not. While you might be a few points ahead of us come the end, will you really have extra bragging rights if your 9 instead of 5 points ahead, but with an empty trophy room?

    • Fair enough, but the gap between clubs gets smaller, If we did not draw so many "easier" games early in the season, we would be up there competing. I hope we have learned from this and will compete next season.

    • I tell you what sonnyjim, we'll promise to challenge you next season if you promise to stop being so obsessive about us. Go give some positive support to your current favourite team because i'm becoming convinced that this kind of blind obsession with Liverpool from the likes of you is just a coverup and that you're actually just a Red. You probably spend more time thinking about us than your own bunch of uglyboys.

    • ok red heres my take on it fergie took seven years to win his first league title

rafa has been in charge 4 years

that means by the great SAFs record he should be allowed another three seasons

are we agreed if we are then based on those figures we should win our first EPL in 2011 provided we don,t get rid of rafa or break up the team

and lets not forget whose team is in debt to the tune of 860 million pound

      any comments

      • wenger won his first prem title within 2 years , i think rafa,s had enough time to win it. 4 years is plenty of time. i doubt though, if he will ever win it with liverpool . if you look back at each season liverpool have always put all there eggs into one basket. ie the champions league. i think liverpool are not strong or good enough to challenge on all 4 comps. you can see this by your record of league standings for the last 6 years.

    • I think you will find that you have misquoted any comments I may have written (what a surprise) - maybe you should get your mum to read them for you.

What I did write was that we would need to spend more than we did in the past few summers if we were going to challenge for the Premiership Title next season. As much as it pains me to admit it, ManUre probably deserve to win the Title this season as they have consistantly performed on the pitch throughout the 38 game campaign. In my opinion, with Chelsea rumoured to be spending £100,000,000 we need to spend wisely on the right players - too often we have spent poorly, buying average players. Who knows what will happen though come the summer, with all the crap going on behind the scenes.

      • Lets be fair, had UTD not been in the relegation zone for the 1st couple of games of the season, they'd have won the league a month ago.

From out perspective, the draws this season were the factor but the overwhelming one was the backroom unrest which is still going on. We went on an appaling run over Christmas, similar to the one Arsenal have been going on lately. In this respect, we have been good this season, without being brilliant. If we can find that consistency next season, we COULD really give it a shot.

If we can turn these draws into wins like Chelsea and UTD seem to do regulary with late goals when not playing particulary well, there is no reason why we cannot be there or there abouts. We have a good squad which need better wide players, a few more additions this summer and we can be nothing more than a little bit more optimistic I hope!

    • Red, if you dont like what Red Shadow had to say, then dont read it and stick to the posts on the UTD board

    • Hmmmmmmmmmm it took you 25 years if i remember rightly so we still got a few years to go before we equal your record

    • red_till_u_rotten, this thing don't last forever you know, there will come a time when United will also be in similar situation the Scousers now find themselves, when United won't be able to buy the titles even if they try to do so. Where are Notts Forest and West Brom? both teams were once great teams but have been consigned to history.

I won't rub the scousers noses in it at every given opportunity the way you're carrying on as these things might come to haunt you in the future too.

      Enjoy it while it lasted.
