    Are we to loyal?

hey la's. Had an interestin convo in the boozer last night i thought i'd throw out to the board. We are well known as the most passionate supporters in the world but are we now becoming too loyal to our club after such a terrible season on and off the pitch?

rafa's already as good as said we won't challenge next season because we don't have the money which i find hard to believe! We spent the most of any team last year and still won nothin even with torres ans masch who weren't cheap. We have one of the biggest squads too with about 40 players on our books but aren't selling as yet - why is that? What about the money from reaching the semi's of the CL and finishing fouth that must add up to about 30 mill not too mention this supposed money from the sky tv rights??

Lord knows we've been kicked in the b*llocks by the owners, rick parry and the Mancs who are pi**ing themselves at our expense and enough is enough. La's i hate to admit it but i'm losing faith, i think we are being lied to left and right and i don't see how we will ever compete for that elusive EPL title now with the current owners/mangaer and players... so are we being too loyal to the club and is it time to kick off and ring the changes? I think it is how bout you??

    YNWA but still gutted!

      Hey...
We've been p!ssing our sides about Scousers for decades...
      Its nothing new...

    • Think u have a point Thommo...Rafa is far too cautious in his tactics, we arent using the squad we have to best effect ; witness how much Rafa plays people out of their natural position...I admit that with Kuyt that policy has worked out but then look how much more we could be getting from Babel if he was played in the position that gives full range to his talents...how long did it take to figure out that Stevie should be allowed to play in the area of the pitch that best suited him.
Theres been a lot of criticism of the players on this board but they are FORCED to play to the strategy conveyed to them by the manager , he picks the side he thinks will best conform to his strategy for any particular game hence the lunacy of constant :rotation: rather than allowing the telepathy to develop that u get from picking your best starting eleven.
Rather than incessantly criticising the players and speaking about off load this one and that one and buy whoever perhaps its more sensible to consider giving them free reign to use their talent in their natural best position rather than confining them to the stright jacket of Rafas overly cautious strategy week in and week out. MISTER SHANKLYS philosophy and Bob Paisleys was always do the simple things well, rather than comlicating everything and we didnt do any too badly back then eh ?

      • Yes I believe we are too loyal, however!

It was pointed out to us that we were building for the future at Liverpool and looking at our young players who have taken their title this year we have a good base of players to come through as the gunners did 2-5 years ago.

Now we have a good squad and with 2 or 3 good players added to it and the wasters away we are going in the right dirrection.

    • Nice and honest mate - but that won't change a thing in the boardroom where financial profit is the goal.

As to Benitez, he can **** of with his whimpering second place ideologue. Let's get someone who believes in winning to manage us, I'm fed up with defeatest excuses and meager expectations from an overated Spanish ********.

    • Win, Lose or Draw I am Liverpool FC till I die, always have been always will be.

I think the current situation in the board room will be resolved one way or another but I do feel it will not be soon enough for us this coming season, I back Rafa to do the business though, I think we have a decent enough squad to get even closer this coming season. I can't see United improving much and truly believe that Ronaldo will leave, Chelsea will go through a transition that could make or break them, Arsenal I don't think will improve enough so providing we don't lose any big names and bring in two or three then I don;'t think on the pitch at least things are as bleak as they seem off the pitch.

      • Chris, think your on the mark here. Even without improvements to the squad, we are closer than many people think. If you look at the last 3rd of the season we had the best record of any club in the top 4, and I don't see why we can't take that inot next season.

The one thing that would hurt that form, is too much change, so I actually don't want to many comings and goings this summer. Improvements yes, in the wide areas, which is why we are seeing attaching full backs linked with us, and some more quality in depth, but beyond that, I'd say we are very close.

Man U will still be the team to beat, but do agree with your thoughts that the other top 4 teams have real questions marks. Chelsea don't have a manager yet, and who knows what players will be staying, and who will leave. Eitherway, it will be tough for them to have a settled squad for the whole campaign. Wenger surprised most last season, but while he may spend this summer, I have doubts he'll bring in mature players to take real leadership, or that he can find depth in quality in a single transfer window (unless he unleashes the cheque book which goes against his nature) that he needs to have a squad that can actually last an entire season.

    • I don't think you can be too loyal to your club.

Things are in flux at the moment just stick in there, things improved from last season, if we can carry the momentum forward from then we'll compete. Things might come to a head in a week or so as per Loki's thread. Have a read, it might brighten your day up.

Since when did we listen to rival fans as well? Stick em on ignore, like the rest of us, if they have nothing constructive to say.

    • Oh f*ck here we go PMSL. No wonder the mayor of London said you scouse bin-dippers were a bunch of f**king whiners! Even if you had 200 million to spend you still wouldn't compete because we are so vastly superior as the last 20 years have proven. That's why we are looking to bring in the likes of Alves, micah richards and fabiano while you clowns are adding unknown freebies and minor team cast-offs hahahahaha

Thanks for the laughs scousers - we are bent over with laughter at your inepitude!
