    January transfers???

I was just reading the gossip that Benni may be leaving us in Jan and Heinze may be finally coming to us in Jan.

Do we really need to change the squad? Would it have adverse effects bearing in mind we are not doing too badly at all so far this season??

I think a left back is desperately needed so Heinze would be great but other than that I think we should stick rather than twist.

    • Just PLEASE get us a left back. I don't mind if you even bring back Alec Linsday or Alan Kennedy ... just get rid of Dossena ... please!

After the Fulham game somebody who can pass to his team mates perhaps. Is that asking too much?

    • Jan is not the best time to bring in a player who will have a major impact on the squad. Rarely are the top players available or even attractive as they are often cup tied. Also, its hard to bed in half way though the season. Only thing you can and should do in Jan is fill a gap, look for bargins, or bring in players that give you more depth.

IMO, we are ticking over quite nicely at the moment. The only two areas I'd consider are back up players for right back, and left wing. Arbeloa I think has done well, but not sure we are strong enough in depth. Dengen has hardly featured, and maybe strong enough but he's not proved it yet. That only leaves Carra. He does a fine job, but he's a center back, not a right back.

On the left wing, Albert has sealed the position for himself. But he can fade in games, and what happens if he gets injured. Babel is the back up, but he's a young work in progress, and IMO not sure he's ready to be a regular starter.

I know many want a right winger, but I don't see it. First do you really want to take Kuyt off, and second since we are rich in back up, with Yossi, Pennant, and Babel, I see bringing yet another right footed wide player as not necessary. Long term changes in this area maybe needed, but are best address in the summer, when players may leave, and new ones have a chance to bed in.

    • I'd say we need a new right winger, striker, right back... then we'll be very strong..

Sell Babel, Kuyt,Pennant,Benayoun, then get in Heinze, Klose, and SWP.. or Walcott..

    • I seriously doubt Benni would leave on Jan. We need all the quality players we have in the squad for the title push this season. Heinze would be a very welcome addition to us though.

      • Agreed Mighty, I think we should keep Benayoun till the summer and see how his form has been, he still can be an effective impact sub. Sometimes he's poor but he can bring that creative spark. We do need a left back and that is are only major priority at present, if Heinze is cheap I'd take him but he is 30 so if Real are demanding a fair amount I reckon we look elsewhere. I think the jury is still out on Arbeloa too, but he's doing an okay job for us at present.

    • I think we should be getting rid of Pennant instead of Benni.

Pennant has been proper pants since his heady -almost got into the england team but the muppet wouldn't pick me - form of about this time last year.

Benni should only be let go when Kuyt moves off the right and we get an excellent, hard working winger in his place.

      • I think Pennant played well the other week when rafa brought him back in, I think the problem is that he has never been given a string of games to play. If Rafa is not going to pick him he may as well go???

I think Benni is good but not good enough as a striker playing out of position is keeping him out of the team (Kuyt)??? I would let him go.

I wouldn't buy another forward as I think Kuyt and babel would give us enough cover up top, however I would get in a quality left back like Bale, Bridge or Heinze and also a quality right winger like Valencia or Bentley.

I would also still like to see Gareth Barry come to us as he would give us a left sided option both in defence and midfield and allow us to cash in on lucas and dossena and we could manage without an out and out left back until next summer.

    • Whoever we manage to get hold of, we need to flog Cavalieri, Degen, Dossena, Plessis, Lucas, El Zhar & Ngog.

    • yahoo is saying that we might put a checky bid in for heinze to real madrid which i think could be a good move!
