    If Newcastle Relegates

Newcastle has been a big spender in the transfer market over the last years. If they go down in the coming summer, will they go broke like what happened to Leeds? Do they deserve it, what went wrong?

If so, many of their players may come cheap for sales. Who do you want?

Owen is surely not on my list. Guthrie is my top choice, and the others are Viduka and Duff.

    • Newcastle need a new owner like yesterday. They've got a number of players to clear out and the entire backroom staff depending how Shearer shapes up.
Take your pick--Viduka, 10 games a season man--Barton, he needs tagging--Owen for nowt, a gamble but I'd take it--Duff, hot and cold--Guthrie, good squad player. Can't go on it's too depressing.
Fans on the same level as Liverpool--marvellous.

      • I would rather die than have Barton at this football club. Vudka not good enough, Owen - a possibility but only on a pay per play contract, I duff - no point he is no better than Riera or Babel at his best these days, Guthrie may be worth a back up slot but thats it. What about Martins? He might be a useful addition, could play behind Torres, with Torres or instead of Torres etc? I cannot see him staying with Newcastle in the Championship, but I reckon plenty of clubs will be sniffing around him. Another thought is Balliotelli - rumoured to be unhappy in Italy because of racist abuse, and a very young and exciting prospect. We could do a lot worse than trying to sign that young defender, Santon as well - he is at Inter I think, he looks like the real deal and has a massive future ahead of him, no way he would come though, breaking into the first team at a club he loves.

    • Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Guthrie a Liverpool youth player? If Rafa sold him instead of playing him in the first team, he certainly isn't going to buy him back.
