Should Liverpool finish below the CL spot, Man City have said that they plan an astonishing triple-raid on Anfield.
Mancini has said that they will bid upwards of £100m for Steven Gerrard, Javier Mascherano and Fernando Torres.
With a good manager in charge at Anfield, just imagine what he could do with such huge transfer funds.
Using Wenger's wheeling and dealing on our Invincibles side over the years, maybe it's not as bad as it seems. At least it solves the money issue at Anfield and give the new manager the badly needed funds to rebuild the team.
I know the issue of selling Gerrard is a very sensitive issue here, but what are people's views on Mancini's comments?
I will quote another post from this thread: If CR7 is/was worth 80 mil, then El Nino is worth at least 100mil and Stevie G is worth at least 200mil, no way Liverpool will accept 100 for these two + Masch... 200 mil is more reasonable but nowhere near enough for 3 of the best players in their positions in the world...
Let's be honest here, I don't think we'd get more than 20,000,000 for each of them. As Paisley quite rightly says, ones injury prone, ones volatile and ones nearly 30. To top this it's a buyers market. eBay would get just as much for this trio

Personally I'd rather not lose either Gerrard, Torres or Mascherano..
As Gerrard is pivotal in the team.. a bit like if Chelsea lost Terry..
If Torres goes we better get a load of cash for him.. Bearing in mind Torres is the best striker in the world. He's gotta be worth close to what Ronaldo went for..

Don't get carried away by these deluded muppets glynn!
Christ man Gerro is 30 soon and his value is dropping like a stone mate... 20-25 tops now and that's abroad.
Mascherano would bring 25=27 in Spain due to a good age and a lack of true top holding players about at the moment. His psycho temperament, bad tackling and lack of goals are a major stumbling block though.
As for Torres - two words lad INJURY PRONE. Yes he can stick em away BUT so could Owen, Saha and Brazilian Ronaldo... ALL have been blighted by injury just like nando i'm afraid. I say 60 tops - he's no Ronaldo or Messi...
Make it £100m each and he's got a deal..
Torres is easily worth more than £60m.. more like £90- 100m.
Gerrard £35 - 50m.
However selling our best players off when they'd be considered a big attraction to signing a top manager. Besides it's the mismanagement of Hicks thats got us in this position..
By firstly taking out a loan and plunging us into instant debt without the manager having any decent funds in which to bring in the kind of players that would bring the title back to LFC..
I'd be very worried that if we sold Gerrard, Torres, Mascherano.. that the manager would see only a portion of the transfer monies.. You can be sure Hicks would syphon off most of that money for himself..
Thus maintaining is this predictiment that we fans find ourselves in..
However in an act of great generousity Hicks gives the manager the full transfer funds and more then yes we'd be able to get some really great players..
I just have this nagging feeling that Hicks would give half of the transfer sales to the manager and expect them to do wonders with it..

Gooner, you have kinda done a media style bend on the comments. Mancini said, City will do everything they can to try and stop Liverpool making the top four and 'if' Liverpool put the trio on the market that they would be interested.......just like everyone else in the world.
