    Team to face Everton?

Amidst all the takeover drama and our poor season so far, the bluenoses couldnt have picked a better time to host us at Goodison. Different results in this weeks court cases could either lift the players or cast a greyer cloud but this is the biggest derby for some time.

    --------------------------------Reina--------------------------------Johnson-----Carragher---------Kyriagkos-------Aurelio
    ---------------------Lucas------------Meireles-----------------
    Kuyt-------------------------Gerrard----------------------Cole
    -------------------------------Torres-------------------------------

Subs: Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Jones, Jovanovic, Ngog, Poulsen

Some might find it odd to go with Soto and Lucas but I think they both have the character and grit for this kind of game.

    • Legal wrangling behind us hopefully, so lets bump this one back up to the top.

Any thoughts on how the injury front my impact the selection?

Kuyt likely out, so problem at RW. Aurellio and Konch are back in trainng, but are either strong enough for what has always been a balls the wall fixture? Agger also hurt last night, so LB has serious doubts. Torres also back in training, and will be a late decision Saturday on if he can make the line up or not.

      Here's my best guess:

      Reina
      Johnson Cara Soto Aurelio
      Lucas Meireles
      Babel Gerrard Cole
      N'Gog

I'm nervous with the center backs as neither has pace, but experience and physical presence maybe more important in this fixture

Aurelio gets the nod because of experience, but worried he might be fragile

Can't believe I'm giving Babel the nod, but I don't fancy Maxi right now, and only option is playing someone like Meireles or Stevie out of position. Let’s just hope he steps up.

I went with N'Gog as I don't know if Torres will be fit. But I'm hoping Nando can at least make the bench to come on late if we need that extra bit of class.

      • Aurelio won't be playing...Dr Brukner has said so on the lfc website.

      • I wouldnt have any doubt about Koncheskys heart for a battle , if anything he's too game & in time I want to see his patience , distribution & discipline improve , apart from that ? He's more than good enough to come into the side & do a job .

If needs be Babel may well be a better option than Maxi because even when he is being a lazy bum he is still big & strong & defenders bounce off him but to be fair on Cole who very well might just click into gear in a big game like this I'd start Babel on the left switching Cole over there later if as expected Babel leaves his heart & pride at home & needs substituting around the 60 min mark .

But with Woy in charge I dont think it matters who we start with because its heart & pride we need & those two attributes have been in short supply even before Woy got the job .

Rafa lost the dressing room & Woy never found it .

      • Oh look - the WORM tries to wiggle away from the FACTS... read it and weep STEER you chickenshit COWARD!!!! Just like your old man always said you were eh eh eh!!!!!!!!!!!

    • There is no way that this isnt the starting 11!

      Reina
      Johnson Carragher Skrtel Koncheskey
      Meireles Poulsen
      Maxi Gerrard Cole
      Torres

Subs: Jones, Kelly, Kyriagkos, Lucas, Jovanovic, Babel, Ngog

But I would rather see Poulsen out and Gerro put along side Meireles, this would free up Cole to slot in behind Torres and slip Jovanovic out on the left.

    • I'll post you the ACTUAL team sheet on Friday mate! as ive mentioned in another thread my mate gets it from someone who is close to the first team.

      • Look forward to the actual team sheet. Always fun to piece together our own team before the match. If only Roy would read our posts!

Anyone have news on the left backs? Hobs, is Aurelio fit or in training yet? Positives with him are his ability to play the ball out of the back, and great delivery. Negatives, not physical, fragile. Someone said Konchesky may be fit, he's a concern though having pulled up limp twice already, hate to waste an early sub.

Like the idea of having the physical team with Kyrg out there, but if all cbs fit Carra/Agger first. Maybe Lucas should play since he's used to these games and I noticed he played left back for Brazil today in their 2-0 victory, very interesting. Also, Meireles played the cdm position for Portugal in their recent win over Denmark, and outclassed our incumbent Poulsen, though I'm almost positive he'll start. Question, obviously it's the derby @ Goodison so we know what to expect, but should we play with a defensive safe lineup, or try and take the game to them?

        How about a 4-3-1-2?
        Back 4-------------
        Meireles Lucas Gerrard
        Cole
        Kuyt Ngog

    • Are you allowed to play five people in goal?

      Robert

    • Awww I have I rattled your cage that much.

Please explain how discussing the young FOOTBALLERS at the club is not football talk?

      F*cking nutjob!

    • You know you googled that lol

    • Haha i wouldn't have a clue either, fair play lol

    • Its you & yer husband chasing me around letting me know your business so who is obsessed ?

Show me one thread you or yer husband started that I have commented on .

    • Because unless you are employed by the club at youth level you have no access to them to make a fair assessment .

Therefore discussing them with you in particular would be like discussing them with their mothers that would be pleading with me to give them this , that or the other !

As I have already pointed out our Academy is second to none therefore I trust the judgment of those employed to over see the development & progression of its players because up until now they have done an excellent job unequaled by anyone .
