    Team to face Aston Villa?

It looks like a lot of fans are expecting a demolition job here but it just isn't going to be as simple as that. Since a collapse at Man City on the back of a lively outing against United, Villa have been undefeated in 4 whilst only conceding the 1 goal in 360 minutes of football. That would suggest they are well organised and will be coming to Anfield to be compact and nick something on the break. Agbonglahor is always a massive threat whilst Weimann and Benteke look the real deal too.

They do have a big League Cup game this week which should suit us, hopefully that goes to extra time too! Suarez has had some well earned rest so we should be looking fresh at the least. I still think we will win it but doubt it will be a landslide.

    Johnson----------Skrtel-------------Agger------Enrique
    --------------Gerrard--------Lucas--------Allen-----------
    --------------Cole-----------Suarez------Sterling--------

Subs: Jones, Carragher, Coates, Downing, Suso, Henderson, Shelvey

    • I do agree with you that we should not see this as a push over. Villa maybe at the wrong end of the table, but they do have some talent and will not be a push over.

I'm not sure if Enrique will be available, and with both Kelly and Wisdom also not available I think that means Downing at LB.

Cole is another that obviously stands out in your line up, and I'm sure many will disagree with you. But it seems to me Cole Hendo and JonJo all made the case that they should be included in the starting lineup. JonJo for me does not impress wide, and I do think our best midfield three are what you have listed, so I'd keep him on the bench as an option to replace Allen or Lucas if we need extra fire power.

So for me it’s a toss-up between Cole and Hendo playing the inside forward role. Both have had a confidence boost in the last couple matches, and I'd hope would want to push on, so maybe we do literally toss a coin.

      • As far as I am aware, Enrique was took off as a precaution with a tight hamstring so am hopeful he will be back in the line up!

Cole's last couple of outings for us have been good, well, he has scored in both then gone on to play well. I really think Villa will be deep so was thinking either Suso or Cole as the unlocker that side, don't think pace will be too much of an issue as I don't think there will be much space to run!

    • Come on you Reds!!

If Enrique isn't fit i'd much rather have Wisdom in and Johnson shifted over, Downing at left back is to risky. I'd rather have Shelvey on the field even if it means shoe horning him him in at RF. Can see Cole get a run out again.

    • Not sure if last night’s result had any impact, other than to reinforce your premise that the fixture should not be taken lightly. Shame Villa could not have been in Arsenal's position, both tired, disappointed, and despite Wenger's claims embarrassed
