    Tiki taka is poo

    Cheeky post!
It's an awful way to play. They even mixed it up a little with passes in excess of 10 yards, especially in the first half hour.

On a serious note, they play so high they are open to the counter attack.

One thing that did really stand out for me last night was when they lose possession the speed at which they hunt down the ball and regain possession was frightening. I lost count of how many times they tackled or forced an error from Milan in the last third of the pitch. It lead to Messi's two goals in fact. When they had possession they actually slowed the game down and were actually resting! They lifted the pace of the game when defending!

For me there's a lot we can take from it. Defend hard, fast and press hard from the front. Squeeze the game but have pace at the back. Be patient when in possession but for me I think it would be a little difficult to mirror Barca exactly here. Tinker the tactics to suit the abilities in the squad. I also like to stretch teams out wide.

Oh isn't that what we're trying to do?

    • Colyn ..good post agre with u entirely...it was phenomenal how quickly they regained possession last night they were superb playing at their peak. I believe against Spurs though the other day I saw a lot of the same intent in our lads. Have a read of my post in response to Loki's here ...I hold my hand up for what I said about Barca but think u will know what my thinking is if u read that post in response to Loki's. GREAT entertainment last night though...football at its best.

      • Why then can't we show the same intent in every game as we did against Spurs? The players hove proved they have it in them.. I think we need hunt down the opposition should we lose possession.. hassle and bully them into giving up the ball..

      • Many thanks Colin.
yes I agree I too have seen some of the same defending intent when we lose the ball. We do howver need to make sure that we dont lose it in our own half. We've been guilty of it too many times this season. We've paid dearly for it too. I'm with you. You cant have enough options and movement in my book.

Your points on move is a really good one. It's certainly something that UK players in particular struggle with. Barca last night was interesting in that while in possession it was almost like they were were simply probing but not really going for the kill. Lose possession however they hunted the ball down and if they regained it they would strike. It was almost like playing on the counter but doing it in the oppositions half.
