    Bad day at the office

Armchair...sorry mate good to have u back on the board but truth is we were played off the park today by a superb performance from a very good side. Id read theyd been playing some good stuff but just hadnt been getting their just reward as the breaks had gone against them. EvenSAF said they were the best side hed seen at their place this season and compliments are few and far between from that man. With u though on the BR thing the man has made more howlers again in his starting selection ..seemed like rotation for the sake of rotation to me BUT if he starts that numpty Joe Allen again this season then I think FSG should hand him his cards immediately...if not before !

    • It was a disgraceful performance in my book. My last 7 / 8 days had been excellent up till then. We beat Spurs with a performance that centered a lot on effort. Barca then showed everyone how it's done with a performance that was again built on a huge amount of effort and intensity. I then saw Wales repeat the same thing and demolished England in the 6 Nations rugby. Truly fantastic performance where everyone gave 100% and more.

      Then I saw Liverpool...........................
No effort, didn't press the ball, looked like they had a heavy night beforehand and quite honestly looked like they didn't want to be there.

Gerrard was awful in a non existent midfield. I do not blame Allen for it all, Gerrard was honestly pants and needs a kick up the whatsits. Glen Johnson looked like he was playing in high heels, Skrtel and Agger were all over the place and the forward line might as well have stayed at home.

I felt terrible for those that traveled down there to witness was quite honestly the most disgraceful Liverpool performance I have ever seen. Not fit to wear the shirt. I am still fuming. Yet another opportunity missed.

Quite honestly if I were Rodgers I would give them a beasting like no other in training followed by a session down the academy where these so called top pros would be made to clean the boots of players that want to put some effort in. They can then go and clean Anfield and Melwood before some kind of video session that included Saturdays game and a reminder of what it means to wear that red shirt.

Can you tell I'm effin fuming? This rant is NOT over

      • Colyn...as u say we as a team just didnt turn up to play. Sometimes if u playing and on u team u have one maybe two guys just massively off form u can ,dependent on how well u opposition playing carry them and get a result but if u have three guys having a bad day imo and experience its unlikely u going to get a result that day. However when somehow half the team just hasnt shown up to play u know all u can hope for is some damage limitation. Unfortunately that was the situation we found ourselves in at Southampton but the worst of it was it might have been bearable if Southampton had a few lads having a bad day too but they didnt they all came and put in 100% max effort and played us off the park..imo the only redeeming factor was that we didnt get stuffed 6 or 7.1 by a on the day superb team.
Allen Skrtel Glenda Agger Sturridge all were shocking looked inept seen better pub league players week in week out...I think the owners need to step in here and take a more direct line and tell Brenda displays like this will not be tolerated and there must not be another show the like of this and hes as a result on probation along with those players who were clearly culpable of a definite lack of effort and frankly as u say were a feckin disgrace to the shirt !

      • Colyn I couldn't agree with you more.. these so called stars need to show some humility.. ie clean the boots of the youngsters and mop the floors of the changing areas.. clearly that's all they're good for atm.. it annoys me.. these players get more money in wages than a person does in a month's work. They clearly don't appreciate that fact..

They should play their guts out each and every game.. I too feel sorry for those that spent good money to go see our team play only to be given a shambles.. if that were a theatre performance you'd be entitled to a refund if the show was so bad.. I too hope FSG give Rodgers a bollocking cos he needs it.. We had a golden opportunity to go 4th in the EPL.. that would've been great, and then our lads would have inspiration to keep pushing.. I think many of our first team need to be sold in the summer.. they just aren't pulling their weight for the club yet they're happy to accept their wages for a shockingly bad performance.

    • I don't think BR's tactics are the issue here, it's his team selection that is the issue..
Hopefully we'll have another clearout in the summer and bring in players who can play the system Rodgers wants.. rotation is fine if you've like for like players that you rotate between.. Thats our problem we don't have those players of equal quality, that can be swapped with.. and it not have any effect on our style.

      • Loki had to use armchairs post as it was first had a reply facility on it your posts didnt ...Idetest this board format ! Look mate the team were a feckin disgrace and to be honest with u if Id travelled down to South coast to support them for the first time in my history of supporting the club Id have catcalled them off the pitch at the end. Lazy tired disinterested distracted u name it anything but put out some effort. This wasnt a game wher wed given our all and just didnt get the breaks or could blame a couple bad officiating decisions for the loss of the points...this was frankly a complete capitulation and as I said on another post we were lucky not to come off at half time at least 1.5 DOWN ! Colyn has put up some good posts on how he saw the game itcorresponds to how I saw it and actually armchair too...sorry but just not possible to remain optimistic in the face of such a complete roasting by an on the day absolutely superb side who played us off the park ...end of. So...someone is responsible..right? Who selected Allen to START ? I saw tehe man duringthe match wince and rub his shoulder...come on this lad shouldnt even have ben on the bench let alone starting. Why bring Skrtel back Carra had been marshalling th e defense superbly recently ? I could go on but ....why bother ? One step fw two steps back is becoming the dance of choice.
