    Biggest Club in the NE

With Gareth´s first season over. 12th place in the league. 2 better than last year and 1 pt up. 4 players already out the door building for next season. Woody joined us full term. Sunderland back in the Prem. Inconsistant performances as per always but the main talking point, Boro, back once again, as the biggest team in the North East!

5 cup finals in 10 odd years, which outside the top 4 make us the most successful team in the prem!

Any kind words for our managerless, (at least till they give the job to Big Sam, good thing he´s not known for taking bungs and wasting transfer money!) near neighbours who must surely now admit BORO are a bigger footballing team?

    • Doug - Someone once said: "It's a common delusion that you make things better by talking about them."

    • Dougy, dougy, dougy, inspite of everything you said ,and yes there was some truth in,there you really do need to get those blinkers off. yes we`ve had many bad signings ie.players who weren`t prepared to try eg. babayaro, carr, luque etc and those who were continually "injured" owen, duff, dyer, actually carr, babayaro and luque qualify for this reason also and then those who simply weren`t good enough bramble, boumsong, oneyewu (on loan)luque carr and babayaro again.then the managers, firstly souness, who was a strange one.even now when i see him on t.v.as a pundit i still think he speaks a lot of sense,he seems to appreciate good football and appears to know a good player when he sees one.yet in his time at our place our football was dull, negative and grim to watch.then we had the unfortunate glen roeder and to be fair to him he was an honourable and decent man but not a motivator of men. i firmly believe that we`ve finally got the right man to take us forward and with a new owner in place things can only get better.i don`t blame you for rubbing it in about finishing higher than us this season, but be honest neither of us would be happy to finish that low next season.i agree with a lot of what you said about viduka,i`d hoped we`d go for eidur gudjonson who`s apparently unsettled at barcelona ? i`m very happy with joey barton,he`s a "winner" and if his energy can be channelled correctly he`ll be a hell of a player.if he occasionally chins a lazy #$%$ on the training field thats great by me,afterall it`s the lazy #$%$s we both need out of our clubs, not the joey bartons.we need a couple of full backs and a centre half ( tal ben haim ? ) and it`s then onwards and upwards.obviously it would be fab and groovy to win things or even to be in contention, but realistically i`d settle for a season of decent entertaining football, played by players who are genuinely trying coz by god we had some dross to put up with last year.......keep the faith dougy and you cjmalboro...........p.s. do you think these rose tinted glasses suit me or do they make me seem just a tad less manly ?

      • Davey,

I think Barton is a winner too. However I still think he´ll fight with Dyer when Dyer suggests they both tag his sister though.

Jibberish wrote a few comments, I wrote a few back.

There´s no need to get all defensive over me teasin your friend. He doesn´t seem to have the ability to come back from any comments but has loads of intelligence to say things like "turd".

With you standing up for your man so quickly maybe those rose glasses imply something else about you?

    • I did know he wasn't refering to the song bird......

    • Thrush......an irritating scratch around the genital region.............hmmmmmmmmmm great name!!!

    • I'm not apologising for anything. So ur a Newcastle fan!I take it you must live in Newcastle then...if not,how and why did you choose Newcastle?Apart from the Claret and Blue being to my liking,Villa also played excellent football which they have maintained for the vast majority of the years i have watched them.Sometimes it brought the league, domestic and Euro Cups, other times it was at the wrong end of the table, but all in all i'm very happy with my club.I intended to cause u no stress over your team as supporting Newcstle gives you enough stress as it is.I sincerely hope the new money that will surely be pumped into the club, actualy achieves something for a change. As for Boro....Mixed feelings as they have one of my all time fav players in charge.G Southgate was much under rated due to not playing for a top 4 club,so i wish him well in managment. The thrush comment was very funny...i do sing like a bird!!!!

    • Learn something ? I can`t think what I might learn from you kipper boy, except perhaps your incredible ability to spout innaccurate, negative#$%$.what was your latest dross on the n.u.f.c. board, won nothing since the korean war ? hows about the inter cities fairs cup in 1969.i believe that competition is now the eufa cup.hardly earth shattering but nevertheless we won it and it wasn`t 1955 was it ? in a previous post you incredibly were comparing roy keane with adolph hitler, joseph stalin, robert mugabe etc.where the f*ck do you get that from you imbecile, talk about exagerating to make a point, you need a reality check mister kipper.if you`ve got nowt sensible to say,try saying nowt !

      • I 4got about the Inter city trains cup...I wonder why!! I would give NUFC more credit if they won the Johnsons Paint Trophy. As for comparing Roy K to a group of despots,it was to highlight an innane point from another poster...Obviously a bit too intellectual for some!!!.And anyway,it was a pretty clever link but you had to think a wee bit to see the tongue in cheek side to the comment!Like i said..U guys from the North have some serious chips on your shoulders. Why can u give it but not take it.Why do u all hate anyone south of Brum????? CHIPS GALORE!!!

    • How does finishing 12th in the Premiership all of a sudden make Boro the BIGGEST club in the North East?

Every season you smoggies come up with some cock and bull reason why you should be recognised in this way?

Even when NUFC finished 7th the other season and you lot were kicking about near the foot of the Premiership table, you smoggies were claiming then to be a bigger club because you'd been in the UEFA Cup final that season! PMSL

I'm more than sure that all those fumes from the smog in Teesside, give you lot delusions of grandeur & tunnel vision.

Two point with whats usually argued on these boards about what makes you a BIG club, what you've won in footballing history and your fanbase.

NUFC have been TOP division Champions 4 times in their history, even as long ago as it was (before the heckles from you lot start) is something that BORO has NEVER ACHIEVED!

You Smoggys go on about all the Cup finals you've been in, well! sorry! Boro have only WON ONE cup EVER, and thats the Carling Cup, (a cup that NUFC would love to win just for the fans alone) but ask your Man United's, Chelsea's and Liverpool's out there, its not that great an achievement.

But! Boro have won that, and I take nothing away from them for doing so, NUFC would love to win that Cup because Newcastle as a City, would party hard for a fortnight if they did win it! but in the amount of time Boro have existed in footballing history, it was the least to be expected that they win at least ONE thing EVER!

NUFC have won the FA Cup 6 times and been in 13 FA Cup finals in their history, Boro have NEVER (so far) won the FA Cup EVER in their HISTORY!

Have Boro ever played Champions league football? NO! they have never finished in the top 4 of the Premiership to qualify for it, funny that! NUFC have quite a few times!

Whats Boro's highest ever finishing place in the Premiership so far? can the Boro say 2nd place like NUFC can? NO! they cant! can they?

As for going on about reaching the UEFA Cup final and getting a good spanking in it, yeah! yeah! yeah! thats all good and well, the Fairs Cup is exactly the same competition but NUFC WON that in 1969, they didnt come home beaten & sour men!

As for support? NUFC get 52,000+ at their home games, Boro are lucky if they can get their small stadium 3/4 full for a home match...

...so whos really the biggest f*cking North East Blub then?

Even Sunderland have a better footballing history and support than Middlesbrough.

I think NUFC fans can just see the jealousy creeping through in Doug the Smoggy's little message thread, it reeks of fear knowing that NUFC and SAFC will ALWAYS BE CLASSED AS BIGGER NORTH EASTERN CLUBS because of their entire history...

...not because of a few 'nearlys' and ONE EVER SUCCESS in the last decade.

      • Seem to have touched a nerver there Mr Jibba Jabba Fool.

Just to clarify a few things. Yes last year you finished 7th we 14th. The season before that? Oh we finished 7th and you finished 14th! So you point is lost there.

Have you see your team win a final? I have.

Back in 66 England won the world cup. We´ve won f all since then. So in 66 we were great and its nice to look back and think we won it. I didn´t see that win but am proud of it. You should be proud of your clubs history. Cos there´s nothing in the present to be proud of!

So currently we have achieved more than you in recent history so this makes us a bigger club. Oldham have won the league. Boro haven´t but an Oldham fan won´t say they are a bigger club, they have been. Historically.

So you run along and try to win the crown back. Look you have a new manager. I´m sure this one will stick around for ages. Just as well he doesn´t take bungs to sign #$%$ players. You could do with a few more of those expensive waste of times in the team.

Oh yes I nearly forgot you finished 2nd in the league. That makes you the first loser. But weren´t you 13 points clear at Xmas and choked? Err Yep. Caught a nasty fur ball? What an achievement to bottle that. So you have gone from 2nd to 14th and we have gone from the bottom of the football league to higher than you this season and been to twice as many cup finals in the process and won more silverware.

Can you see why your history is more impressive but right now you are a worse and smaller footballing team?

        To quote from you

"...so whos really the biggest f*cking North East Blub then?"

You are. You really are the biggest f*cking North East Blubler.

100m odd in two season in transfers and you finish 14th. You really are #$%$.

      • ha haha .....Sorry Jabber wockey or whatever you call yerself, that tickled me...a 2000 word rant about when you used to win stuff...ha ha talk about has beens!!

Like Michael from Sunderland quite rightly said "you are only as good as your last game"....so Boro finished higher than Newcastle in the league.....so what ! accept it, wind your neck back in and stop bleating on about the past.
As for "delusions of grandeur”. far from it, at the moment all the NE clubs are pretty #$%$..I cannot deny that....but your club is a bit #$%$ than us at the moment, so just swallow it Geordie boy and dry your f%&kin tears.

      • 1969????
Nearly 40 years ago and still gloating about it??
My son is 9 and has witnessed us lifting a major trophy AND seen a european cup final!!
You must be at least 50 to say that if you support newcastle!!

try asking people less than 60 who the top team really is cos i wouldnt swop Boro for Sunderland OR NUFC as i like my cup FINALS too much!!!!!!

    • At this moment in time Boro are the ne's top team, league position and your final appearences over the last few years confirm that. Remember you're only as good as your last game or season ,it starts all over again, and with the resurgence of Sunderland, and Newcastles determination to get it right for once, next season could be very interesting for all of us.We all could have something to shout about for a change, and get the north east talked about for the right reasons.Newcastle always maintain they are the biggest supported club and at the moment, again rightly so,but we are now hot on their heels and within a couple of years we could take that mantle from them, i say could as plans are being made to commence extension works next year should we retain premiership status

      • We just have our noses in front as the most successful NE club at this moment, but we are not the biggest club in the area going by attendance figures. That’s a worrying aspect that I hope will change. Gibbo has frozen ticket prices again this year..a good thing perhaps, but in comparison to similar clubs who have dropped ticket prices, this may be an opportunity missed to attract more people to games next season.
Now that Sunderland are back up It would be great for the NE sides to make the rest of the country notice us, for years none of us have really had a sniff of major silverware, yes some cup final appearances...with only one trophy to show for it.
You are dead right though Douggie that for his first season in charge Southgate hasn’t done too badly.... at least we have out performed the bar codes this season...but only just, 43 points is not really a signal for us to start sucking each others d%cks just yet....in fact we can leave that to Manure USA supporters ; )
