Boro open talks with striker Lukas Jutkiewicz

LUKAS Jutkiewicz has opened talks with Boro and could complete a deal by the weekend.

Coventry and Boro have agreed on a fee for the 22-year-old hitman believed to be in the region of £1.5m rising to £2m.

It’s now a case of player and club agreeing personal terms and talks are underway.

City were reluctant to allow Jutkiewicz to leave until they could recruit a replacement striker.

But that issue was resolved yesterday when the Championship strugglers signed Manchester City striker Alex Nimely on loan.

Nimely, of course, spent three months with Boro earlier this season, though failed to score in 10 appearances.

Jutkiewicz is Tony Mowbray’s No 1 January transfer target and almost signed in August before City pulled the plug at the 11th hour.
