They can beat spurs - they are more resolute when need be than spurs these days if the likes of Borini-Johnson turn up...

The problem Sunderland face is they've lost their last 6 PL games, 5 of the next 6 are v top 7 sides... So by the time they face West Brom & Swans they could already be relegated :(

    It's a funny old game...

    by FABONGRASSS Mar 29, 2014 20:20

To some extend we did shoot ourselves in the foot. On the other hand who knows where we could have ended up. That is why for me we will have 3 pressing priorities we need to address before the WC:

    1. nr 1 priority should be to get to the bottom of our training methods and medical staff expertise. It is hard to imagine these two sides of our club don't contribute to our ridiculously poor injury record. If we did shout ourselves in the foot, the first bullet went in this category. It is hard to imagine for me that with Walcott, Ramsey, Wilshire and Ozil available we would not have gained a few more points.

our players are too often injured for it to be a coincidence and our injury prognosis our too faulty to be bad luck.

Ramsey out 27 December. Initial prognosis: back in 3 weeks on the 31st of Jan it was 6 weeks.

Ox: out the first game of the season initial diagnosis six weeks, he was out for 5 months.

Ozil: out against Bayern, initial diagnosis 3 weeks, still out

Podolski: Injured hamstring before the PL started, initial diagnosis 3 weeks, was out for 4 months.

It does not seem we have a proper grip on why our players get injured and how long the recovery should be.

Unless we manage to get to the bottom of this and manage to keep our squad intact (mostly) we will always be "light" comes this time of the season.

    2. second priority we need a top striker with pace
    3. third priority we need another pacey box-to-box Flamini with leadership abilities. Arteta was great but doesn't have the legs anymore.

3a. We need a pacey left winger. Draxler!!!!

    Fifa growing a pair?

    by Govinda Apr 2, 2014 12:27

I think you are confused. You appeared to reply to my post in which I advocated to keep dreaming, with a ramble about the team disappointing and me eating my words about Giroud. Not sure how either the team or Giroud where on topic.

Perhaps it is best you start a new thread about the team and Giroud's qualities?

    Ten Simpleton Questions for Rikki...

    by Jack S Apr 5, 2014 20:31

What, no reply to that rikki.
Baldrick was in first and has made me realise what a clown you are. Personally I thought it was clever and hilarious, and got the response it was designed for from you. One of silly abject floundering around trying to think of something and only coming up with your usual (time and time again) response. You add nothing new or inventive to your trolling work. Its so repetitive, and everyone sees you for what you are.......as my daughter would say ' a bit of a creep'. and just so 'anal' its hard to believe it comes from someone like you. Now try again and this time, please try to give us something fresh rikki because you're beginning to sound like a broken record. So read this carefully, and see if you cant come up with something with a bit of a wow! factor, instead of your usual tripe. I don't bother to read yours anymore as I know what's coming. Baldrick, in his capacity as such (more inventive and intelligent than yourself imo), floors you every time, and I think that's what upsets you so much. Otherwise why would you bother (cupcake?). See what I mean, even calling you cupcake is just so suggestive and funny compared to yours. Oh BTW you still haven't answered his questions. Why is that, because you don't know perhaps, or never been there. Never done that?
Lovely day here rikki, its Spring time in 'the old dart' and we're off to the beach for a picnic, with family and friends. Hows the wife and kids rikki, oh I forgot you don't do family and friends do you. Oh well, try to be less anal. Try asking a woman out, instead of wonking off on here.

    Wenger embarrassing Arsenal big time

by Ref, It Was Me! Apr 6, 2014 18:13

I mentioned Diaby in that list of shame simply because he's one of those players symptomatic of the problem with our squad. In an ideal world he would have been sold a long time ago because keeping him in the squad isn't adding value nor make economical or footballing sense since his overall contribution is pretty minimal. He's being with us for 8 years and most of his time has been spent on the injury treatment table rather than on-field. He played a total of 123 games since he's been with us, i can list a lot of players who have played equal amount of games in two seasons with their sides. For me, Diaby just like Bendtner aren't worth keeping as they are wage-suckers who take up useful squad places and contribute nothing to the cause.

Btw, Higuain made that claim in order to endear himself to Napoli fans after signing for them, I'm pretty sure if Wenger didn't mess around and match the fees Real wanted he would have been an Arsenal forward this season.

Man U have never paid £42M for a player either and that didn't stop us signing Ozil as he's proven himself to be the sort of quality players we needed in order to compete with the other top sides, Suarez falls into the same category. The £50M Liverpool wanted originally would have been a snip as Cavani was bought for £57M by PSG, an indication of the then going rate on players of his ilks, a missed opportunity which I'm pretty certain Wenger would be regretting in private.

The main problem I have with Wenger is he's too reactive in the transfer market as opposed to a proactive manager who works the system to his advantage, something Wenger isn't. Personally I doubt he would change his ways and I won't be too surprised if no value-added player is signed by Wenger if he is still in charge before the beginning of the 2014-15 season. I think Arsenal need a new manager with fresh ideas, rather than same ol same ol from Wenger.

Week 34, will it be another monster DGW?

    by Netley Lucas Apr 6, 2014 23:59

If Kun's back rash, I'd guess City will go back to 4-4-2 with Silva going back to the left, and Nasri or Navas on the right. I simply can't see Kun on his own with Silva behind him and Nasri & Navas on the flanks, too many similar types imo, need a big 'un up there too.

The harsh reality, Man U could still catch us.

    by Govinda Apr 7, 2014 10:14

Agreed. I don't rate the FA cup and would take 4th over the FA cup any time. It is possible that by the Time City play Everton they will have won the PL. If they beat Liverpool this weekend and win their game in hand and Liverpool draw or lose to Chelsea City might have a 6 point gap by the time they play Everton which could make them less hungry.

"I think the reason for our recent poor showings is more down to a change of playing staff forced by injury than any other reason. Walcott and Ramsey were hugely missed but i believe Kosceilny being out is even
    more of a blow." ?????

Is there a parrot in the house. Didn't some posters just discuss that recently, or are you not reading other posts fab??

dude.. he already get all 12 CS point.. look on the stats partner..

  • They only managed to beat Arsenal who were very unlucky to play for 60 minutes or so with a man down. They never beat us when the teams were 11 v 11 as you saw in the return leg.
