  • Too bad Arteta is back because he is not prepared for this level. We are getting run over in midfield.

  • I have expressed my opinion this summer that we are too weak in the spine of defense. Mertesacker is too slow and doesn't even start for Germany in their must win WC games and if you add Arteta to that mix, quality teams like Dortmund will run circles around you all season long. We will not win many games with Arteta as DM in front of Mertesacker. Flamini is a better tackler but seems to have lost something this season and is a bit panicky. We could have had blind for £14 million!!!

"While some of the blame for the lack of stability has been placed on the defenders, and rightfully so, Wenger’s 4-1-4-1 formation with an absence of a solid defensive midfielder is ultimately killing this team. 32-year-old Mikel Arteta was used as the lone defensive midfielder in Tuesday’s match in Germany and looked completely out of place at the position (although it must be said that it is not 100% the player’s fault, as Arteta is not a true defensive midfielder).

Mathieu Flamini, 30 years old, has also filled the role in front of the back four defenders this season; however, the Frenchman appears to have lost some of the athleticism and command that made him an outstanding free agent signing in 2013. Flamini is also dealing with a concussion at the moment as well.

Pushing Özil out wide has also hurt the Gunners. As one of the best “number 10’s” in the world, Özil is best suited in the space just behind the center forward, not on the left flank. Özil’s best attributes are creativity, passing, and vision, and deploying him on the wing is like purchasing a Ferrari California to pick up the kids after school.

The question some fans and pundits are asking is if Wenger loves the 4-1-4-1 formation so much, why didn’t he go after a top defensive midfielder during the transfer window? William Carvalho, Lars Bender, and Sami Khedira were all linked with the Gunners over the summer, but Arsenal and Wenger could not seal a deal for any of the imposing midfielders."

"I didn't see the United game, I was away"

LMFAO - Aye, a likely story and I'll bet you'll soon be 'away' again after the 5-3 STUFFING off Leicester City earlier today.

    Prick!!!

No proper DM not top 4 and no trophy.

    by Govinda Sep 18, 2014 10:57

I dont think its wise to overreact to the Dortmund game, as they are basically a superior version of Arsenal, and would beat most English teams 2-0 in Germany.

Flamini I felt was a typical Wenger signing over the past 8 or so years, but perhaps the last of his kind given his new found relationship with his chequebook. I suspect he will add serious quality to the DM position in the near future. One thing he wont change is his need to take his time to get (what he thinks is) the right player. Ozil Im not sure will ever come good here, I dont think he fits the style of the premiership but could be wrong there. Veron mark 2 possibly.

  • Explain to me....if you are capable.....why the Sol post is racist. Title? No, as it's Sol's own claim. Content? No.

    So come on flappy chops?

  • At the moment when I try to change it keeps putting them back and is running slowly, why?

Hello Paul, yes I change one player, then if I change another one or two it goes back to what the team was before, then goes slow, does it do that with everyone?

...you and Drummer are going to kill this board with your deletions too...

....except...it was already dead when you got here....

....and without me ...you have no internet life...no one to stalk and search for...

...I should say "thank you" to Drummer for bringing you closer to your goal of finding out who and where I am by sharing my personal details with you....especially since I told him in a private email many years ago that you were "searching" for me ...

...want a clue...? ...I never met Drummer for lunch...like he suggested he would lie about...

...knock yourself out...Kipper....when all is said and done....you're nothing but a sad little, ineffectual man who posts personal details on defunct message boards...details you got from an equally sad little, ineffectual man...

...I hope Drummer is proud of himself...and can hold his head up high in Church next Sunday...and put some money in the purse....so he can feel good....

    "Anyone else going"

Wrong forum, John, Midget supports Crystal Palace, Slayer doesn't live in England, nor does Bananaman, and Govinda can't afford it.

there's a message from butch John. He's sorry he can't make it, as he has his foot caught in his hammock on Bali beach, and its a devil of a job to get these locals to understand he's not drunk, but just caught up at the moment.
However, I will be there, and if you look for a tall bloke with a combover, riding a Ducati, give me a heads up and show me where to park. I haven't been to the Emirates before, and I don't know N. London that well. Appreciated. Thanks John

  • Molre?

    "HIC!"

It'll be more likely you getting things deleted, you've already got a long history for snitching to Yahoo when the going gets tough and people rile you up.

I've noticed some of my recent posts have gone missing from this board, you know, the ones where I've been giving you a good old cyberspanking, so why would someone like Kipper go and get those deleted?

PS - good to see you've finally posted a photo of your face as your avatar, you silly old woofter!

    LMFAO - OINK OINK!

  • Rats leaping off a sinking ship comes to mind straight away!

He'll not be the only one come the summer.

I bet there's a few former Man U 'fans' already binning their horrible red Moanchester Ushyted shirts and opting for the sky blue of Manchester City since their League Cup final win against the monkey mackems.

    OINK OINK!

The more I've thought about this week the more I've come to the conclusion that far from it being an awful week, it's actually a very good opportunity to take a few risks... the upside could be good, downside maybe fairly minimal. gl

with sturridge at 22mil, its a big hit to take (6.5) for next week

i have a 3.5 mil hit to get rid and i have, as have spare 5 mil floating about to get him back

best to make the choice on ur own...then no one else gets the abuse for their thoughts on it..

well, a lot of people have Suarez on 19 points. They HAVE to hang on to him. You however are playing at a permanent 7 buying-points disadvantage to those people every week that you use Suarez. You may be better off dropping him and going for it this week, and don't buy him back (sturridge at 24 is a good alternative next week anyway). Also Liverpool have some tough games coming up. I would drop him and play a different strategy to those that have him on 19 points. ( I have him on 19 so have to hang on to him for now )
