    The silence is deafening..

    by Jacks Oct 26, 2014 19:46

It was a boring game. I still would prefer Mertesacker-Chambers as a CD pairing with Bellerin and Monreal on the outsides than asking Monreal to be a CD. I think playing Flamini and Arteta in front of defense helped a little but going forward we are still not scary enough.

I think we should learn to play more on the counter than slowly boxing our opponents into to their own final 3rd. We don't have the speed of ball movement to pass our way through a clogged up final 3rd. The days of Tiki Taka football are over. Not even Barca can dominate anymore like they used to. I think when Dimateo's Chelsea got the best of Barca at the Nou Camp a new blue print was developed to stop the pass happy teams. SAF had done it for years against Arsenal. He was happy to give us the ball because he knew we would not do a lot with it and he knew once we lost it they were much quicker than we were in transition. The same happened in our big losses last year.

We now have enough speed in our team with Sanchez and Welbeck and soon Theo to kill teams of on the break. This is a skill we need to harbor IMO.

Van Gaal seems to learn, why does Wenger not?

    by Govinda Oct 28, 2014 09:35

Jack.........Both Managers like to play football. As for Fellani, the reason he was a massive flop last year was because Man U did not play him where he is most effective. At Everton he was a pest throwing his weight around in the box and on the end of crosses etc................At Man U he was played as a proper midfielder, and a proper midfielder he will NEVER be. LVG has played in in his old Everton role with some success. The man who played him in the wrong role at Man U was Moyes.......who ironically was his Everton boss!!

Running out of things to say

    by Govinda Nov 5, 2014 08:06

Well you've gotta laugh being an Arsenal supporter. I've been laughing for years. To put the game I assume your talking of, the referee needs spec savers. One of their goals was miles offside, and their penalty only because Monreal slipped at a critical moment. Some teams just get lucky. And whats to moan at ( as usual with you) the result makes absolutely no difference to our qualifying, now does it? Do try to look on the bright side of life, we could have lost it as well. No?

    Why no Ronnie...????

    by Jacks Dec 14, 2014 09:10

Quite right Butch, snooker is a game played by fat, beer swilling bogans, as described by Wikipedia .....

"One version of events states that Colonel Sir Neville Chamberlain of the Devonshire regiment (not the later Prime Minister of the same name) was playing this new GAME when his opponent failed to pot a ball and Chamberlain called him a snooker. It thus became attached to the billiards GAME now bearing its name as inexperienced players were labelled as snookers.

Snooker grew in popularity in England but generally it was still a GAME for the gentry, and many well established gentleman clubs which had a billiards table would not allow nonmembers inside to play. To accommodate the popularity of the GAME , smaller and more open snooker-specific clubs started to be formed.

The GAME of snooker grew in the later half of the 19th century and the early 20th century, and by 1927 the first World Snooker Championship had been organised by Joe Davis who, as a professional English billiards and snooker player, moved the GAME from a pastime activity into a more professional sphere. Joe Davis won every world championship until 1946 when he retired. The GAME went into a decline through the 1950s and 1960s with little interest generated outside of those who played. In 1959, Davis introduced a variation of the GAME , known as snooker plus, to try to improve the GAME 's popularity by adding two extra colours. However, it never caught on."

Don't you just love Geordies, they're so easy to take the pith out of!

West Ham favorite on current form

    by Govinda Dec 27, 2014 19:01

Great result!! Poor performance. Why does Wenger insist on bringing on 2 additional defenders when we lead a game in the 85 minute? It always means we start to play panic football. Defenders tend to drop back inviting all of the play to be in our half and reducing the players that can keep a ball or that can be an outlet for a pass.

Joint 4th on points!!! Beat Southampton, and Stoke next in the PL, buy Schneiderlin or an other top DM and a CD and we can begin to have some hope and ambition.

    How is Welbeck doing?

by HRH Gillian Brown BO Dec 23, 2014 10:26

I think he is not much better than Giroud but I still prefer him to Giroud. Out on the wing he is not very good.

Arsenal need a quality striker. Costa would have been great. Bony would have been good but Giroud is not good enough and Welbeck doesn't get the chance. He doesn't look like he could develop into a world class striker but he still could benefit from more games in the middle.

    Monaco-Arsenal predictions

    by Govinda Mar 17, 2015 14:45

Top 3 finish would be great and arguably and sadly the best progress we can now hope for. The FA cup would be a nice consolation price.

I would take top 3 over FA cup and 4th. I think a top 3 would help in the summer recruitment since it guarantees CL football and top players nowadays tend to want that guarantee. I hate waiting till the after CL pre-qualifying to see if we sign top players.

Having said that 5th at this point is as likely as 3rd or 2nd IMO. At least no more pointless CL football to tire our squad.

  • Mancrapper Ushyted DUMPED out of the FA Cup despite trying their best attempts to dive and cheat their way through the match, and Danny Welbeck scoring the winner...MAGIC!!!

Once again David de Gea kept the scoreline respectable, Mancrapper Ushyted were lucky to lose 1-2.

Where's that old tranny Butch these days? - LMFAO!!!! No FA Cup for Ugly van Gallstones, Mancrapper Ushyted and their SHYTE fanbase.

All's okay with me, Lotto, same with you I hope---can't say the same about Pools. None league football for the 1st time in a 100 years coming up.
Haven't bothered with the boards recently, anything interesting anywhere or same old.

  • I don't know if its the same with anybody else, but if you don't scratch your head and wonder about the almost unexplainable, such as the Arsenal team itself, then you know more than I do, because to try and explain their never ending ups and downs in performances has now become a subject that even has the media scratching their heads. Tell me someone please, how is it that a team can play another off the park and still lose. Then almost in the same week, come out and comfortably beat a top European side in one of the most competitive football competitions in the world ?? That to me at least is indeed simply psychological. It has to me. One can almost make a case for sheer bad luck ( once again we are left without another key player for 3months) but surely not continues bad luck? Meanwhile I will continue not to get too downhearted about something that it almost becoming a regular occurrence.

  • A handy 3 points? Having seen the game my opinion is, as most team are struggling against so called inferior sides, this was a good result given the 'shut them out at all costs' methods adopted by the afore mentioned. It isn't the Arsenal's or the Man C's that cant play their game of football, they aren't allowed to play 'football' any longer. Its just a game of tactics. How the hell does Sunderland side hold Chelsea to a draw, if not by adopting the 'shut them out at all costs attitude'.? And that includes knocking them down with tackles that are killing off good players for long periods of time. If the perpetrator is only going to get a yellow(on average) for it, what chance do top teams have when they are p-laying with the 'handicap' of fear. Worth a thought when your a struggling team trying to stay alive in the PL where the money is.

    Good to see....

..... that, as usual, you fail to notice that YOU are completely ignored on here, except by the Geordie child!

    LMFAOATTY!

  • Guess this was a fair result. Not impressed with the way this game was managed by Wenger. Why not give Campbell a chance at some point? Three small players like Carzorla, Rosicky and Alexis where never likely to bother the Southampton defense. 4th will be harder than many think and I still don't think we will finish 4th this season. And the bad news is that we didn't lose this game in defensive midfield. We were just out played by a better prepared side and more disciplined side.

I for one was glad that Arsenal beat the dirty, scummy, smelly mackems 0-2 at the Stadium of Shyte and that my lot beat Spurs 1-2 in their own backyard.

Mancheaters Ushyted were once again helped out courtesy of a referee's dodgy decision at Old Toilet so that they could scrape a point at home against a Chelsea side that didn't park the bus (for once) after going 0-1 up, Robin van Pricey's goal celebration was over OTT - you'd have thought Mancheaters Ushyted had won the European Cup the way they were going on!

    Ouch!

I must have touched a nerve....again! Especially since you went on a mad rant with your little 'jackanory' thread aimed at me!

But 'jackanory' is what I named you because of all the tales you've told over the years on these boards, that just goes to show you couldn't even come up with something original of your own, always COPYING A GEORDIE!

Remember when you supposedly 'chinned Lee Bowyer' on here? Your list of tall tales goes on and on and on! - PMSL!!!

LMFAO - you best go and knit yourself another little geordie bloke and keep that unhealthy obsession of yours over me flowing with pure hatred!

    OINK OINK!

  • Its so good to see that the idiots of the boards are being ignored. We miss nothing with their exclusion from anything other than football. Now onto more pleasing things than them.
I thought the team AW put out seem all to have played pretty well. The result was outstanding. Names I hadn't even thought of made a big move forward in wanting selection into the main squad. All in all, I have reason to smile for a while at least until things go pear shaped. But maybe not. As I said before the lastPL result could be a spring board for better things. Amen to that.

Is that not counting Stoke, on the 6th December?

Maybe that's why you didn't turn up here, or make any comment, because you didn't know?
