I think you will, but only because after the top two there are only a couple realistic teams with the quality to challenge for top 4, same as has been for past decade. Right now I have you as 3rd favourites, with Man Utd or Everton possibly getting 4th. Liverpool are not surprising me this year and are realistically 5th/6th standard, Spurs finally have a decent manager but we wont see them challenge the top 4 this season.

I think City and Chelsea will take the first 2 spots with Chelsea my current favorites but an injury to Costa could change that. Liverpool yesterday started to look a little bit more like the team that impressed last season and is my 3rd and I still think Man U will take 4th. They had a disaster start and are still only 2 points behind Arsenal.

I think Spurs, Southampton, Arsenal and Everton will fight it our for 5th and I just don't think it is our year this year. Our defending is just too poor and too old and slow. If Arsenal wanted to sneak in at 4th they can not afford drop points at home against the likes likes of Spurs, Southampton and Everton.

Mertesacker - Arteta or Mertesacker-Flamini is just too easy of an axes for good teams not too look forward exposing that lack of pace and force. You can see panic as soon as teams start to run at us.

I hope I am wrong and a lot can happen in terms of injuries to key players from teams competing for the top 4 spots and also Wenger could surprise and buy a commanding DM or CD in the winter window but based on what I have seen so far we are inferior to last season and still have the same flaws or worse on the back of key players aging too fast.

Geez Mar, it wasn't that bad!

We dominated possession, but did the old trick of trying to walk it in. That and Spurs sat with ten men behind the ball throughout the whole of the first half pretty much.

Their goal came from the only mistake our defence made the whole game. Gibbs was inches away from blocking Chadli's shot too.

We need a DM no doubt. Hopefully we can get Kedhira in January. Artetat is too slow these days and Flamini gets carded within minutes of coming on....but I still like him for that.

We got nothing in the first half yesterday, apart from two injured players. There was some poor refereeing, but that didn' t cost us the game. Lack of shooting and direct, quick attack stopped us.

John the way I see it is that we can (and have to) analyze each game very much along the lines you did, looking at the positives (possession) and the negatives in ability to break opponents down as a result of slow ball movement from the back and individual errors (Flamini cost us a goal against City and Spurs - and yes I like him and his attitude and still prefer him over Arteta but not as much as last season, and we need a higher caliber DM as a starter).

But the fact remains that we are dropping points like a sieve. Man U, by some considered to have had a poor start is only 2 points behind us and Chelsea is running away quickly. They will probably beat us next week without too much trouble.

Our short comings don't seem new to this year, wanting to walk the ball into the net, conceding on set pieces, vulnerability to speedy opponents, good games followed by poor games, no game plan other than forced by injuries.

When I look at things in this context I think we are in pretty poor shape with little chance to expect major change.

I wouldn't blame Flamini for the goal. He was given the ball, not knowing there was a player on his shoulder. I think it was Szcesny's fault.

We need to into next weeks game with the idea of taking a point off them. United's defence is in disarray. No Rooney for three weeks will see them drop points again. He is the engine that keeps them going sometimes.

If we can get through the next couple of months without any more defensive injuries, we will be fine.

One other really good thing I saw in the game, was Callum Chambers linking up with OX. Ox had a poor first half in my book, but he came good in the second. Chambers is looking like our best signing so far this season.

"No Rooney for three weeks will see them drop points again."

Don't be too sure, with that overrated clown out for three games we'll have a proper number 10, Mata.

I don't know about the worse, but a captain should potentially play every game, like a Roy Keane, Rooney is too up and down to be guaranteed a place.

Now he's played as number 10, which he isn't, he's too greedy for a start, a number 10 is there for the team.

I'm glad he was sent off, now Mata has three games to prove a point.

I think RVP should be on the bench too, with his place given to Januzaj and Wilson.

Roy Keane was also a highly overrated, bad tempered, hacking, red card collecting, shyte for brains footballer, so what's your problem with Rooney having the number 10 shirt and being Mancnobber Ushyted club captain?

Is it the £300,000 a week that your beloved football club are stupid enough to pay Rooney after he' d held the club to ransom a couple of times with threats of leaving if he didn't get his own way?

I've got to give Rooney credit, I think it's funny to see a scouser robbing Mancnobber Ushyted blind and their fickle fans still go and chant his name! - LMFAO!!!

Completely agree on the Chelsea game. If I were Wenger I would train on sitting back with 10 man forcing Chelsea to come at us to win the game and then try to use our speed upfront with Sanchez and Welbeck to hit them on the break. This really is using Moureen's tactic against himself.

If we try to win the game and play our usual attacking style, the game will be over by half time with Chelsea leading 2 or 3-0.

I saw Arsenal pretty much dominate Spurs, but it is clear that they still have to gel attack wise with Sanchez and Welbeck. I think you are still undefeated, and more consistent all round than every side but the top two, of which there is probably a large gap.

I think potentially the biggest threat to the top four is Man Utd, and the most susceptible are Liverpool, who were bound to lose something going forward just by addressing their huge defensive flaws, not to mention losing their star player and juggling the champions league and actually trying in the league cup (and maybe FA cup too this time?)

There is plenty to criticise Arsenal still, but if you put it into perspective against the other sides I dont think there is any reason to worry so much about top four. The main stipulation I would have is that Arsenal are still not good enough to challenge for the title realistically.

Man Utd funnily enough are resembling Liverpool last season in their attacking threat and defensive liabilities. They will only get better, and wont miss Rooney with options like Mata and Januzaj to come in. I actually think their Brazilian kid Perieira is a superior number 10 to both and look forward to Van Gaal giving him a chance soon. Remember the name!
