Hi Lotto, too true! 'Poor results... apart from the FL's verdict on Cellino being overturned!
    How are y'?

I can't see McDemott keeping his job after that humiliation... And it's not the first; we were humiliated at the Wendies and at Rochdale. On the three strikes and you're out principle, McDermott has to go!

We have quite a few promising youngsters coming through the Leeds Academy but manager McDermott has become reluctant to using them... As ever, us Leeds fans are mystified about what goes on behind the scenes at Elland Road - and at the FL! How much is a ST for Pools!

Hi Al. It's good to see you're still there. Conor Wickham is a great (loan) signing for Leeds - I'm surprised the Black Cats let him go. Maybe we have Gus Poyet to thank. Two quality additions in as many weeks and we're looking for a third... It's like wise men (or is it wise guys!): you wait all year and at Christmas three come at once! Cellino's influence feels a bit like Christmas at Leeds; although it would have been better if he could have bought the club in December when we had a chance of promotion....
What's the prospect for Pools? I saw the result on Saturday

I've seen Pools put a couple of good runs together and each time thought they'd bounce back to L1, only to see them in similar table positions to Leeds.
A win at Boro is vital to Leeds' chances of chasing a top six finish but, again, I can't see it happening. With the lack of investment in the team, a mid-table finish is the best we can expect... Also, the Boro game will be televised and, no doubt, we will play in the stupid beige away strip; ensuring humiliation again!

I still look out for Pools' results and, sadly, they're as depressing as what's (what isn't) going on at Leeds.

Brighton 1 - 0 Leeds... From the match commentary " Brian McDermott disappearing down the tunnel"

  • But a win is what I'm hoping for - especially with Cellino attending the game!
This board has gone quiet again... I tried to make a post last week but it got knocked back because, I think, I included a link to a blog about Elland Road shenanigans.

Like most fans, the more I read about the club's dire financial situation the more I warm to Massimo Cellino.

It seems to me that GFH bought the Bates franchise and handbook on how to run a football club - rule one, don't invest! We forget too easily that what Leeds fans wanted was quality players coming in before the transfer window shut. Like in any sleight of hand trick our attention has been diverted - hey presto, no new players come in and we're not even discussing it! Instead, we are defending a manager who, under normal circumstances in a results driven profession, would have expected to get the sack after his team's historically abysmal performance.
GFH is playing corporate mind games - and probably still covering Bates' dark dealings. There are multi billionaires looking to buy English football clubs and it beggars belief that none have even considered buying the sleeping giant that is Leeds United. I suspect the reason is that if a strong potential owner appeared, one rich and honest enough not be bribed into silence about past dealings, he, or she, would be shunned by our present management.

Nothing I've seen or heard recently dispels the notion that Bates is not still pulling the strings at Elland Road - prolonged "take over" negotiations that, conveniently, prevent investment etc are exactly what we've had in the past

Not boring at all, Al, but a bit galling as G McQ played in our 73-74 season when we went 29 games without defeat - shadows of the past and Leeds presently is a shadow of its past. If you see the big guy buy him a pint - it's on Bryan!

  • With what's happening at the club presently it is hard to believe that anything has changed. It's like the fall-out between Bates and GFH is just smoke and mirrors to divert fans from seeing the same sleight of hand that typified Bates's regime - i.e. no investment in the team masked by lies and more lies.

Too true, Bryan. What a brilliant little player! We could do with a Bobby Collins in our team now; someone who can pick a pass to set our wingers on a scoring run.
How well did you know the lad?

#$%$ was McDermott thinking! Why use the same system with two wing backs when introducing two wingers (that can't have had more than two hours to meet the team}, stick with a three man defence; use a midfield that has been dead on its feet for five games and compensate for their shortcomings by playing long balls to non-existing strikers?
Fortunately, I spent this weekend in deepest Wales with no radio signal so missed the game and the immediate heartache...
Summat's not right at Leeds and I fear that it won't get sorted out soon.

Hi Bryan, it's good to hear from you. Did you get back from Ukraine okay after your mugging in Kiev? If you don't know what I'm talking about it is likely that your email has been hacked.

  • Out-played and, in particular, out thought by a L2 side. What was McDermott thinking by using tired players in what at best was a lose/lose game? We now have even more tired players to face our next Championship side.
McDermott is beginning to look as unimaginative as a manager as his predecessors. Why continue to do the same thing and expect a different outcome - has he never heard of Einstein's definition of insanity!
