    #$%$?

31000 for the Huddersfield game despite being on a 6 match losing run. Average gates this year well up on last year yet we are apparently haemorrhaging money. something is not quite right!

You could be right Andy, but I am beginning to think there is more to this saga than meets the eye.
We are now between the devil and the deep blue sea. Cellini looks like he will pass the fit and proper test, and there is no doubt he has the money to invest. The mixed consortium are more palatable, but where will the investment come from? And where has all the money gone yet again?
According to reports we are losing money hand over fist, and yet gates are up, sponsorship is up, and the bankers are losing money? Someone must be paying themselves fortunes or else the interest on loans must be the highest in the world. Looks like we are being dredged before the Somerset levels!

  • What a nightmare day!
GFH have shown their true colours and although Cellini may have agreed terms with how the hell can he pass the FL's fit and proper ruling. He couldn't when he tried to buy Palace and if he thinks forming a family company without his name on the sheet will pull the wool over the FL's eyes he should be very wrong. However, with Shaun Harvey in charge there who the hell knows!
To have the audacity to sack Big Mac (whether you are a fan of his or not), when you do not yet officially own the club is a mystery to me, but GFH must have given him the go ahead, which for me puts them in the NOT fit and proper category.
Under the circumstances the team did everyone proud and whether that form can be sustained remains to be seen. In the meantime we are a laughing stock once again, and I for one am not happy!

Something very fishy going on. Why does it take longer for the authorities to ratify a change of ownership for LU than any other club?

I knew Bobby and Betty very well when I lived in Leeds, and we met at various social occasions and we occasionally went to a match together in the 70's. A good mutual friend gave Bobby a job in his garment business when he was in need of work, but I hadn't seen him in the last 15 years or so. He was exactly what is needed now in the team, as he was a very determined terrier, but also a true gentle man off the park.

You were lucky to be in Wales, Andy. I watched on the box, and was so embarrassed I switched off after the 5th goal.
I am still mystified as to why Byram isn't in the starting line up, and we are persisting with a 3 man back line when we are leaking goals. The 3-1 loss to Harrogate was bad enough, but now you can not see us winning another match. We have gone back to hoofball and have forgotten how to pass the ball. We had become a passing team but now have reverted to Warnocks ways.
On another sad note RIP Bobby Collins - a true gentleman. Many happy memories of nights we spent together.

I am getting an awful feeling that no decent players want come to ER.
Lets hope the investment is worth it this time!

Terrible experience in the Ukraine, and an even worse one getting BT to get rid of the hacker!
Heres hoping Big Mac can turn things round!

Agreed! This was the perfect game to bring in fresh players, and whether we won or lost it would have been no different to most of the big clubs giving their regulars a break. The players are jaded (though they wouldn't have been in the 60's and 70's) and even if Big Mac gets the four players he wants that isn't going to change.
Same old xmas again with no cheer!

  • A must win game in my opinion. I have just been looking at the run in at the end of the season and unless we are in a very good position with 7 matches to go we could lose out as we will be playing Wigan, Watford, Blackpool. Brum, Barnsley and the last match against Derby.
They will be up for it with their favourite son back in charge, so we will have to really have a go!
Any thoughts on changes to the team?

I still get the impression that we are scraping by, and it is a little reminiscent of Colin's era in a different way, as I have more confidence in the way we are playing.
Big Mac is doing a great job in trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear, but I still get this foreboding that a slight drop in form will see us get hammered somewhere.
Every match is difficult to predict and as I said at the beginning of the season this season is going to be much harder to get out of this league, but who knows!
Watch out for Bolton making a good run up the table. They looked a good outfit at the beginning of the season when they were getting beat although playing good football.

Thanks for the welcome back guys!
Must admit I've missed Andys berating of the ownership and Al's humour.
It would be good to get all the old familiar faces back, but the way Yahoo are messing up these boards it is becoming difficult.

  • I think I may have cracked it this time but who knows!
    I'm still here guy's!!
We can't complain about the last two results, but I am concerned about young Byram. Obviously not right and maybe he has been pushed too far too soon and may have to have another long spell out, and I felt sorry for Mowatt missing out for England as that would have been a big boost for the lad. I am really pleased the young lads are sticking with us as well instead of joining Norwich.
I am very perplexed with Mr Noodles. Where is all his money coming from all of a sudden? Is he a Bahraini sheik in disguise? Has he been borrowing from Master Bates? Let's hope he can splash a little cash in January when it could make all the difference.
Big Mac is doing very well with what he has at his disposal and I warm more and more to him each week. Let's hope this is the beginning of a great run to the end of the season. MOT!

  • Watched the game on Sky, and must say I was impressed with today's performance. Austin was magnificent and the team played as one for a change.
Smith looked knackered at the end and may need to improve his fitness, but you couldn't really fault anyone.
I like the idea of playing 3 centre backs which seemed to help the defence, but having said that Birmingham were poor in the first half. We may still struggle against the better teams, but you can see some light ahead.
Pleased for you, Al, as Pools seem to9 be getting it together now!

It's not looking too good at the moment, especially as we made a better start than we all expected. Too many losses on the bounce which will hit confidence.
I was hoping the kids would make an impact, but it doesn't look like they are quite good enough yet despite the hype.
