Newcastle United Message Board
Well done to Stoke. Not sure if we deserved much more than we got. We didn't have the individual talent today you need to create something out of nothing. As a result we really didn't create anything other than the Sanogo chance to equalize. But you get what you pay for and Sanogo is not the finished product.
We keep struggling without Flamini.
4th place here we come? I hope not.
Not sure if I share your optimism. They had some impressive results against City and Chelsea and are one of the teams we seem to struggle against. A win would be very welcome and confidence building IMO.

I like Moyes, I like him even more at Man U. I just think a manager should earn his respect. But for the avoidance of doubt I don't mean to suggest that he should be disrespected by his players. I just don't think RVP disrespected him with his comments and I agree with Keown on this issue.

That is such low quality reporting. I just saw the interview and loved Wengers reply.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger (about giving his players two days off):
"It's not necessarily fatigue, what you call fatigue. They could run on Sunday, on Monday when they were off. I don't see why that's suddenly a problem. Many clubs have two days off sometimes. We have played since the beginning of December, we don't have to justify here why we have two days off. It's unbelievable. Look, we are in a society where everyone wants to control everything; I don't understand this question at all."

I think more is made of this than there is to it. I have to agree with Keown.
Not sure what Moyes has done at this this level to deserve and respect.

You might soon discover that qualifying for the CL is better than an FA cup or League cup. I know you like counting. How many years on the trot did Arsenal qualify for CL football? Hope for you your counter on that one doesn't get reset to zero.
I’m not sure he was slagging anybody off Fred, but I think he was being open. If he is trying to create space for himself he doesn’t want to see other players popping up in there.
That suggests to me that they need to work on what they’re doing in the final third. Van Persie has been more expressive talking to a Dutch reporter and obviously he had an issue with the tactics, but that takes work on the training pitch. And if Moyes is focusing on making his team solid, then they won’t be doing as much creative work in training.
His comments might have been a bit lost in translation, but I still think he was just making an honest assessment, though sometimes those things might be best kept in house. Though it’s never easy when the wounds are fresh after a loss like that.

Was it not you who said the best way to judge the strength of a quad is to look at the results? Well last year this ManU squad won the title under SAF. SAF has build many winning squads. It is hard for me to imagine he would retire just becaue he believed his squad needed renewing.

Why would we have to score 3 goals without reply? I would take a 3-1 win to Arsenal. You on the other hand would be out with a 3-1 win.

I agree with you. We need a top drawer striker like, Cavani, Falcao, Costa or Suarez. I am pretty sure one of these guys will go play for Chelsea. To me that means we need to sign one of these guys as well to keep up. We need 3 real strikers, the new top dawg, and Giroud and Sanogo as back-ups.

I concede I am somewhat biased because I think RVP is exceptionally talented and has a gifted football brain. So to me it highlights the difference in managerial skills of SAF and Wenger, who both managed to maximize RVP's skills and got him to score many goals, and Moyes who can not get his team to work as a unit. He might be better of just benching RVP because if you don't use his skill he is not a Giroud who can be useful in other area's working his tail of. I think some highly talented players can fall of a cliff if they play with players who don't "get" them or in systems of managers who don't "get" them.

Moyes clearly doesn't know how to get the best out of old RVP. I seriously hope there is little truth in the persistent rumours that RVP will come back to us. He is too old next year for our ambitions. We need a top striker in his prime. Unless Wenher wants RVP to show Draxler the trade for a year or 2 but I am not a fan of that idea although I would like to see Draxler come to Arsenal this summer.

Did not mean to suggest you can not win at home, not sure where you got that. But I guess now that you have stated that City and Arsenal have no chance you better cross your fingers. In football anything is possible. You could still get 4th in PL.

"Olympiacos. Not Bayern Munich or Barcelona. Olympiacos. Not master coach Pep Guardiola. Michel. Not Lionel Messi. Alejandro Dominguez.
And not down to 10 men either. Unlike Arsenal and Manchester City last week, Manchester United had their full complement on the field. It just didn’t look like it.
They contrived to lose, not to giants, but to one of the also-rans of the competition. Olympiacos are not potential winners.
Chances are they will be removed in the quarter-finals by the first good team they play, if they manage to survive the return leg at Old Trafford. The odds must favour them now.
United pulled the plum tie out of the Champions League draw — and then choked on it.
This may well be the worst performance of David Moyes’s brief time as United manager, the one that really will cause questions to be asked about his suitability."
It all started when he passed on Ozil and continued when he was conned by Mourinho to accept poor Mata, but how will it end?
