good idea,he should GO to Middlesbrough and we might get someone in with a better idea of tactics on how to win a game......not gift it to the opposition all the time !

Mowbray & Peace have shot themselves in both feet by letting KP leave, who have we got that can score regularly and set up goals for others........no one! and it's going to take a few million to buy someone as good !!

I agree with Clive.....again! we lost big time when Kev went to the Bluenoses and right up to transfer deadline and who have we signed to replace him........NOBODY !!!!! Miller can't play on his own up front with his back to goal he can't turn!! he's only any good running AT defenders, why can't Mowbray give Slusarski a try,he looked good in pre season, play him and Bednar up front and I would guarantee we would score!!

Arsenal vs WBA - First Fixture of the Season!!

    by K Jun 16, 2008 19:38

Hey ! devil_fish I don't think we'll beat you by that margin......be a bit more realistic!! we haven't beaten Arsenal by that score for years !!

  • Why wont Mowbray,or is it the man behind him.......Tightwad Peace !,get Phillips signed for the two years he wants,he's not asking for a massive rise in wages he just wants the two years!!!! and after that I would get him signed up to coach, with all the knowledge and experience he has it would be of great benefit to Miller,Moore and partly to Bednar too,to pass on his wisdom and hopefully improve the forwards we have.
On to the mighty Zoltan,he only wants a fair deal he has not asked them to break the bank to keep him here,he just wants a rise like anyone else, hopefully to reflect his value and past service to us and you cant say that we haven't had our moneys worth out of him and Phillips, can you ??

You're right there Clive,I spoke to him at the sponsors dinner and congratulated him on getting us up and told him that I felt like he'd had us on a rollercoaster ride all season.....ups & downs,thrills.....and spills! I think the season had a bit of everything thrown in !!!

Good comment...even though you must be looking through rose tinted glasses some of the time, you only see the good things and ignore the less favourable because through good fortune and other clubs slip-ups we are back where we should have been most of the season.

We were the better team at Wembley

    by Clive Apr 5, 2008 22:04

I agree with you once again Clive!,we were the better side and probably we did try to over elaborate, but I can't get used to the feeling we were cheated out of it by Baros and his constant use of his hands and arms to control the ball,if Howard Webb had used his authority properly and to the letter of the law like we have been on the receiving end of a lot recently Baros would have been off the pitch before half-time!,but as Kev Phillips said he and the linesman bottled it and chose to look the other way............

After watching saturdays game against Colchester and Kiely's performance......or lack of it as the case may be,it could be that the defenders lack of confidence in him is what is causing our defensive problems,I think it's about time Danek was given a chance to prove himself, after all he couldn't be worse than what Kiely was last week!!

    What is happening ?

    by IAIN Mar 16, 2008 01:50

No,sorry to disappoint you Alan,I'm not mad just incensed! and I definately wouldn't have Atkinson back at any cost!! I've been watching the Albion since the days of Alan Ashman and I've seen some good times and lots of bad......but I get the impression off the current hierarchy that they like to get close to getting out of this division but not succeeding.....it wouldn't be good for Peace to get promotion as he would have to spend money rather than rake it in !!

  • After watching that display today against Leicester I am seriously questioning whether the Mowbray/Peace partnership really want to get promoted or stay in their comfort zone of the championship!! On todays game I would like to know if the ref came from Leicester or is he friendly with Mandaric ? it seemed to be one rule for them and another for us ALL game, for reckless challenges Leicester beat us hands down....but they only got yellow cards,Luke Moore did one (his first and only tackle of the game) and he gets red !!!! then the penalty decision....it happened directly in front of where I sit and Hendrie literally threw himself over Greenings leg and the best part was the 'Ref' was pointing to the spot before any contact was made!!!!,after that we had the absolutely ludicrous changes by Mowbray,he takes off two players who were causing Leicester problems and puts on two players who I can't see changing the course of a game and the final inept move by Mowbray was to take off Bednar, who was also putting himself about and causing their back three major headaches and puts on Phillips and tells the team to just pump the ball forward at every opportunity !! we all know that Kev isn't the tallest of blokes and putting him up against three 6 foot plus centre halves and expecting him to win something is asking too much, his tactics after Moore was sent of were laughable !! I think it will be time for a change at the top if we end up missing out on promotion and lose to Portsmouth in the cup......Peace go quietly.....we should have kept Megson and by now we would have been back in the Prem !!

    Up in the air

    by Clive Mar 13, 2008 05:01

    Hello again Clive!
It seems it's mostly you and me having a chat on here these days....
Anyway,as for the Palace game I don't think Robbo caused us any problems last night....it was the right back position that caused us to concede that goal the other three looked reasonably on top of their opposition but Hodgekiss was sadly lacking against Moses.....he couldn't keep up with him and he couldn't challenge him in the air and it cost us in the end as he went missing and left Moses unmarked to score,Mowbray should have played Martis there as he played well there recently or he could have moved Albrechtsen out to right back again,as he has performed well there in the past and brought in Cesar,Martis or Pele at centre half,I'm sorry but Jared just isn't up to this standard of game.....maybe Div 1 or 2....

    Albion 1 - 2 Hull.

    by A Yahoo! User Feb 26, 2008 03:06

Well Clive I agree with you on most points there, though Morrison has had some good spells in past games, against Hull he was very poor!,Greening wasn't much better either.....I thought we were coming back into the game really well after Bednars goal,he and Phillips were causing their back 4 lots of problems hence the rash of yellow cards just before half time!,the turning point came when Mowbray did the double substitution of Miller & Moore who neither caused as much problems for the Hull defence as Bednar & Phillips,I agree he should have brought on Brunt in place of Morrison and Teixeira in place of Greening and move Gera into his natural central midfield role where he plays so well for Hungary!,then when we were a goal or two to the good then bring on either Moore or Miller.....not both by the look of it they can't seem to work well together, well not this quick!,.in the end I reckon it was Mowbray's poor tactical substitutions that cost us the game......

    Champions?

    by A Yahoo! User Dec 17, 2007 20:52

Maybe....but we are going to have to stop our sometimes dozy defending (as against Coventry,Ipswich & Stoke) the players are good enough but they need to get in the habit of playing for each other not themselves.....

You are talking thru your arse!! I agree with everyone else....he was a fool to waste his god given talent,if he knew he had a problem with alcohol, which he did,any other normal human being would have got help and advice from their doctor....did he.....no he went to the bar and confided in the barman,he thought it wouldn't kill him cos he wasn't like anyone else.....but he was wrong!!

    by Will Nov 29, 2007 09:59

I agree with you on the Watford thing,I reckon they are going to struggle to stay in the top two,but will make the play-offs,as for the referees......have you seen some of the idiots we've had this year so far!!! there's not a lot to choose between any of them they seem to be out there to be noticed rather than control a game properly and fairly, then you hardly notice the ref

Sorry Clive but I've got to agree 100% with Paul, that referee was determined from the start that we were not going to win the game,he must have had a bet on it or took a bung!,he was that obviously favouring Wednesday with every decision, even their supporters who got through on WM's after match phone in said we should have beaten them 2-0 if it hadn't been for the referee's intervention! he should be dropped off the list for the display he put on last night and the FA should have an investigation into why he did what he did!!!,I don't mind being beaten or being held to a draw if it is deserved but we didn't it was all down to and idiot in the middle named Nigel Miller,I would have willingly throttled him at the final whistle!!.....it would have been doing football a favour to rid the game of that prat!!......finally the FA should be seen to do something over this,he should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute, they're quick enough to charge the players & managers so how about treating everyone involved with the game the same!!!,as you can guess I've never been so incensed by one individuals performance like this before.......
