    Which Striker - You decide

    by Robert Jul 9, 2012 14:50

Remy and Damiao would both be a good fit....We need to get a striker soon though, hopefully Adebayor will sign too. COYS

I wondered if you were still about Fab....

Just joking about the "winding up" mate....at my age it's more about winding down!! lol I'm staying away from the Gooner board as I wouldn't want to catch anything nasty...I see you are still a closet Yiddo though.. :0)

To be honest mate I don't really know what's gonna happen this year at Spurs...it's a bit squeaky bum at the moment! Hopefully we can compete with The Arse again this year, especially with no Van Persie to worry about.. hehe

    England performance

    by Jlock Jun 25, 2012 15:33

The Italians highlighted a weakness in our play last night.....when teams like Spain and indeed Italy had 2 or 3 players closing them down they used it as a positive that there was space elsewhere on the pitch for their teammates and were cool and calm in releasing the ball to one of their own players. We, on the other hand, when presented with opposition players closing us down, panicked and ended up either hoofing it or giving the ball away. We need to instill some kind of confidence or something in our players to stop this happening....the world football scene has changed into a game about tactics and possession rather than a game where guts win out....we are f*cked basically! lol

The one statement that rings true from this thread for me is that 'Arry leaving has left big shoes to fill...the facts that cannot be reputed (but I am sure they will be!) are...

    1. Harry came in and made a big difference to a team that was struggling after 8 games (2 points) and we finished in a decent enough position that year.

    2. Harry got us to the Champions league.

    3. When in the Champions League we acquitted ourselves well with exciting football.

    4. Harry got us to 4th this year which 99% of the time leads to the Champions League.

These are very simplified points about 'Arry's time at White Hart Lane. I think he did rather well for my beloved team and I am sad to see him go. I too can blather on about this signing and that and the England job but the basic fact is that Levy NEEDS to bring in someone who is going to do as well or better and I have my doubts whether this can be done, which would make Harrys sacking a mistake for me....but we will see, won't we?

    England performance

    by Jlock Jun 25, 2012 15:33

Overall I think the performance at the Euros was much as I had expected...I felt a little let down by individual performances, for example, how many times do we see Walcott/Young skinning defenders in a rush to get to the byline and put in a cross yet that never really happened except the one time that Walcott went for it...

It seemed to me that the players were afraid to express themselves, I don't know whether this was the system/Roy stifling them or if they just bottled it?

On the plus side there was one highlight for me in the Ukraine game...Scotty Parker had just been twisted up severely on the edge of our box until he lost his footing and fell to the ground, instead of giving up the ghost he actually tried to tackle the player from a prone position....with his head!!! That's commitment for ya! :0)

Until we get a manager I don't know what is going on at the Lane?! If we do well next season and don't lose half the squad to the circling vultures there is a fair bet that we will see Spurs players in an England kit once again...I hope!!

Who's here that I recognize then?

    by Jay Jun 20, 2012 13:47

Know what you mean John....The only place I really ever explored when away working was Bangkok, but that was cos there was a delay on the job I was doing over there....I just wanted to get the job done in Bolivia and get back home so pretty much worked non-stop. Travelling on business sucks ass to be honest, I've got a 4 year old and a 7 year old and I have missed alot of things when I have been away. I always say never again but then the money starts changing my mind. I'm working in Portsmouth for the next 6 months so just down the road for me...excellent news!

Thanks for the replies guys....I should be back on here regularly now I'm back in Blighty.

Didn't get to see much of Bolivia except the inside of a print factory and some of Santa Cruz, mostly just got pissed in the hotel and talked footy with the bar staff. Didn't feel like I could come in here and talk about the prem when I was not at the lane or immersed in the English footy scene...

Bolivia is a great country but a little scary if you are not a tourist or loacl..I had a guy who picked me up from the hotel, took me to work and then dropped me back to the hotel...felt a bit weird going out on my own so I just did a Alan Partridge and stayed put in the hotel. It's nice to be back with my wife and kids, missed them loads. They came out and met me in Cancun for a holiday which was great.

I will read up on the threads and start joining in soon....a part of me wants to go on the Gooner page and start winding them up for old times sake but I think I'll leave that one well alone!

Obviously I am not that memorable...lol

I come back from a year in South America and can't quite believe what is happening....We didn't make the Champions League because Chelski fluked it...Harry is not England Manager and not Spurs Manager either! We are chatting up Villas Boas to be the new boss (what the f*ck??)...Modric and Bale are rumoured to be going...What the hell is going on? It's like I turned my back for a second and suddenly I'm getting raped by a whole rugby team!! My beautiful Spurs are falling to bits and nobody seems to have a clue about putting them back together.....Distraught is not the word...coming back to a Britain where a pint of milk is the same cost as a whole weeks shopping in Bolivia was bad enough!! oy yoy yoy!!

    Peace...out.

    Change of heart over Modric

    by Jay Jul 12, 2011 17:03

When you say "they say yiddos are supposed to be smart..." you acknowledge that it is a wide ranging opinion that Tottenham fans are more intelligent than the average football fan of say....Chelsea, for instance.....Thank you for the compliment.

I didn't read your post with the "salient points" in it by the way......because you are quite obviously, now how shall I put this......a w@nker.

True SB. He's pure class....the goals when he came on at the back end of last season were priceless and did make me wonder if we had been wasteful with his services. I quite like Thudd though...Jenas on the other hand always looks like he just smoked a joint before coming on the pitch!

  • Hi all you lovely Yiddos.

2 days ago I was sat in my office telling A liverpool fan and a fat manc (I completly ignored everything that the gooner in the corner said, understandably!) how Modric would stay at Spurs and that everything that Levy had said out the window of his Merc was spot on. I was having none of it and insisted that he would stay and we would put his wages up and we would get back in the CL (Yes I got carried away a bit!). I was hopeful that a truce would be made and we'd all be happy as a Palace fan in the prem.

Then it happened...I heard that Modders had actually thrown all his toys at Levy and asked for his ball back etc. (we all know the details). Something in my belly started rumbling (may have been the last of the Saussis au sec). If Haye and Klitscho had been in the room I would have knocked the pair of them out with my stapler....I suddenly had flashbacks of Dimitart and Carprick smiling wearing another teams shirt and I had a complete turnaround in my opinion and I felt I had to voice it on the World Wide Howard Webb...here goes...

F*ck off then you horrible little c*unt. Better men than you have sweated blood for the shirt that you have p*ssed all over with your little rat like features. Go to Chelski and sit on their bench you tw*t, just make sure that the club that we ALL love get a decent price and don't show your face around WHL again. I repeat again....F*CK OFF!

Phew...sorry about the foul language there everyone but that's just how I feel. I don't particularly care about the politics of Levy and the people who are going to be arguing against me. If we are all honest with ourselves on the basest level I am sure that we all should feel betrayed and a bit narked. I know I'll probably get some stick but sod it. Nuff said.

PS Thanks for the welcome back messages although my return has not brought us much luck so far! I will if neccesary return to France if that's what it takes I promise. I can do a pretty good mime....Cheers Jay
