  • If only Luka Modric showed the same sort of loyalty has Jermain Defoe he might come out with some credit, Defoe does not want to leave his beloved Spurs, he hardly figured in Harrys team last year and still scored 17 goals, he clearly wants to stay and be part of the set up and does not want to warm the bench as he has to much to offer, Modric however who lets be fair is a quality player, but for me he should be scoring 10-12 goals a season instead of his meagre 4 which seems to be about average for his time here.
To be honest i am sick and tired of this story now and when you here former players feeling sorry for him because he cannot get his own way with the move it makes my blood boil, if he wants away and we cannot agree a fee let him make up the difference out of his own pocket if he wants it that badly lets say Real Madrid offered 34 million and we want 40 million let him go and make him pay the 6 million himself im sure he can afford it.
I hope Jermain stays i would hate him to play against us with another premiership side he will always score as he did when we let him go to Portsmouth before. Bye Bye Modric thanks for your service but your loyalty stinks!

    BAE

John, Ledley as we all know is a top top player, he is an hard act to follow both from ability and loyalty to go out cropped more often than not, Harry or Daniel gave him an ultimatum at the start of the season to play i think (dont quote me)31 games to see if they were going to offer him a new contract if that figure is correct he has not made it, there has been a lot of discussion over the last few years to whether or not to keep him, keep him we must but not in a playing capacity if we are to move forward we must invest in the future and im afraid to say our Ledley is not the future.
Harry could have and should have bought quality central defenders two years ago, we have had a catalogue of injuries in this department with Michael Dawson, Ledley and we brought in Gallas who in fairness has been a reasonable performer but again count the games hes played not many, they have tried to promote full backs like Kaboul and the Croation out on loan to fill these central defenders positions it has not worked and when you are vying for at least a Champions league spot you need great players and this in my opinion Harry as not done, ask any Spurs supporters the question and most will agree.
Lets keep Ledley at White Hart Lane for the rest of his days he deserves it but sorry son its time to let go because on the occassions you have played lately you have not been up to it and mistakes have crept in which i suspect is down to match fitness.
Also just a word on BAE i dont think you should always read what the papers say these always get exagerated i think from a personal point of view hw has been superb for us this year and i believe his heart is at the club, cannot see him going anywhere.

    Dirty players at the Lane.

    by longtimespur Feb 8, 2012 11:17

Not that many dirty players over the years really, Roberts springs to mind but a fully committed pro and a great player for us.
Dave Mackay was the best player we ever had for reputation very hard tackling player but like Roberts totally committed for the cause, i dont think Dave was ever sent off which clearly puts him out of the dirty player bracket and a joy to watch and without doubt one of the greatest ever Spurs players no question.

  • Now now H these comments come back sometimes and bite you in the bum, i think you should put the dummy back.

  • H the question was about Norwich not Swansea!

  • H im a bit late with my reply to you on it was only Norwich we played and not Barcelona, but if im correct didnt this side beat both Sunderland and Newcastle this season, looks like the Canaries moved the magpies and the black cats happy new year.

  • A great result tomorrow would really set us up for the run in after the new year,in January we have 5 games out of 6 at home including the FA cup all these games are winnable but i know you cannot count your chickens, we then have on paper what looks like a difficult month when we play stiffer opposistion but if the last 2 seasons are anything to go by we excel and how its worked out in 2 seasons that on both occassions we have had to meet the top 5 and come away with great results and i see the way we are playing these teams no longer frighten us as they once did.
Towards the end of the season again we have an easier run in and if we put the results in just after the new year dare i say it we have an outside chance of the prmiership title now wouldnt that surprise even the biggest of Spurs fans just 2 great results against the Mancs and your dreams could be a reality and not out of reach.

  • Joe/SB i hope we do it tonight Harrys already stated who hes leaving at home so we know hes going to play the youngsters and some of the fringe players but against Shamrock and no disrespect to them the team he puts out are capable of scoring 5 goals and hope PAOK win funny things happen in football look at Fulham last night coasting it and then out with other teams beating the odds, i know it would not be the end of the world if we did not make it and some would say a blessing, not me i would love to see the youngsters and fringe players carry on playing in the next round, next matches are not until February and most of the youngsters will not play until then should they get through, so i say go for it, go all out to score as many goals as possible give Harry an headache on selection lets see what Kranjcar and Dos Santos can do alongside Danny Rose remember these would be considered as premiership players and all could play for someone in the premiership if they left Spurs.
I think it really sets it up for the final push this is do able we could score five or more and hope other teams do us a favour, not only will we have regular first team players in the side we have the up and coming prospects such as Livermore and Townsend plus a host of young boys who have already played in Europe, so go on lads go for it take the opportunity with both hands you never know you could still be playing in Europe come February.

    Taxing.

    by Alan H Nov 12, 2011 20:49

Sfer i think its more serious than you think, they are doing him for avoidance of £185k in tax payments against the full amount which was laundered into foriegn bank accounts, i would estimate he would have recieved around half a million quid in actual money that was illegally salted away, having said that it may be just paper talk which i hope it is but nevertheless its the sort of crime that HM do not take lightly.

    by RAMBR0 Nov 6, 2011 18:29

As already stated we were mighty lucky in this game, but a win away from home is a tremendous result however you do it and i know us Spurs fans would still like to win playing the attractive way we always have, but to win ugly for a change does not bother me, when you look at Man Utd they have been doing it for many years and why not.
The pleasing aspect is that for the last 10 years we have been loosing to sides like Wigan, Wolves and many other teams we should have playrd off the park but havent its so good to see us winning games we should win and that has not happened until this season.
We also have a decent run of games coming up against lesser teams lets hope we continue in that vain.
We could be very serious contenders again for the Champions League this season and why not with the way we play the game, yes we need a wake up call with performances like yesterday against Fulham but 3 points from a poor performance is as good as it gets.

Alan in the case of Tottenhams game singular means one point there is no s on the end of it, also bear in mind when your in Europe you do not have time to do your garden, no doubt you will have a few more seasons on your garden before you realise.
