Benitez and Hodgson were not given enough time from the supporters, and Dalglish and Rodgers will be the opposite I fear.

Hello, Jason, an Arsenal man here.

I think your main problem is that you have signed the wrong manager at the wrong time. Its very easy to blame the owners but they were right to dispose of Dalglish and Comolli, who were quite simply shocking, especially the latter.

The problem now is that you have no Director of Football who can advise the owners, and you have an inexperienced young manager who's success is based off two seasons with a Swansea side largely built by Roberto Martinez. But because he led Swansea to 11th, they've backed him because they have no clue over how football works.

What was needed after Dalglish was somebody with an experienced tactical brain and somebody who can drive a hard bargain in the transfer window without looking like a numpty. Rodgers is not that person.

I know a lot of you are saying "give Rodgers time" and "it's the owners fault", but the owners have done everything right apart from being fooled by Rodgers' record and charisma. He'll soon be out of his depth in this league. And you'll need to be calling for his head...

It is capable of winning trophies, but I question whether we have the mental strength to go on in the league.

Ox as a deep lying playmaker when his dribbling skills, pace and delivery from wide are far better than Walcott's and Gervinho's?

Anyway, looks like the Sahin move has collapsed, which is a real shame...

Why is it every United fan I know is either a whining pillock or a plastic? Why must you be so arrogant in success, completely failing to enjoy it? You wonder why there are ABUs around...when Liverpool dominated they were respected because the majority of their fans managed to be as magnanimous as possible. All the neutrals were cheering on City because of the atrocious attitude of the fans and the players (who are almost all adulterers or thugs).

Don't buy the bile, sorry! You'll always be a hated club...

Well it seems Fabongrass has finally got to your head Christopher and you're now completely incapable of discussing football without being a child.

I'll still keep you off my ignore list because unlike Butch you do come up with some gems from time to time...

You're blowing the RVP horn when you clearly said United didn't need him...what to expect I guess.

Please prove how Podolski, who starts for a very good German side, is mediocre? Does caps lock still count as an argument?

"We just bought your best player, for tuppence"

Tuppence? 22mil for a 29 year old? Please...

I won't deny we are a feeder club. That's the way it seems anyway. But the way the club is run is completely out our hands. The fact that we're still in the CL is miraculous.

Your problem is that unlike me you are in complete denial. Last season was the beginning of the end. If you think your defence is going to get any better, you're wrong. If you think your midfield can dominate the likes of Barca and City, you're misguided. If you think you're attack will be any use against teams that monopolise possession, you're deluded. And once the trophies dry up, Rooney and co will leave. Welbeck is the only one with a shred of loyalty.

    I'll ignore the childish insults...

I think on paper we were on par with you until Van Persie left, especially with Cazorla. In every position, we had better players except for, ironically, the striker department.

You blame your "bad" season on injuries and your GK, yet when we had a calamitous GK and were riddled with injuries (including RVP) you ridiculed us!

As for signings, I'd take Cazorla over Kagawa any day. Cazorla distinguished himself with Malaga in a league dominated by Barca and Real. Kagawa thrived with a superb team around him in a mediocre league. He wasn't their main playmaker (unlike Cazorla, who led his team from the wing, no less) and he only cost 2mil less.

Podolski only failed at Bayern because of the atmosphere at the club. Too many egos got in the way. Giroud on the other hand dominated in a league including PSG, effectively leading unfancied Montpellier to the title. Both are unproven, but I believe at least one can fill the void.

Despite this coup from Funguson, you can't deny your club is mismanaged and on the decline. Chelski have opened their check book again, and this time on young players (Hazard cost less than RVP and is only 21). City always were a better team than you (remember 1-6?) but lacked title challenge experience. I see you competing for 2nd with Chelski, but only if RVP stays fit.

Our problem lies in an unambitious boardroom and Ivan Gazidis, who's business expertise pales in comparison to David Dein. The Russian takeover must go through. Otherwise we continue to make profits while the Glazers have you in seas of debt in uncertain financial times

Hello, John, good to see one of the better posters still present on these forums...

I think Wenger signed Giroud as RVP's replacement. While it's good that he did this before Van Persie left, it means us fans have the impression this hasn't been dealt with yet. But Podolski and Giroud (if he doesn't turn out like Chamakh) can provide some of the goals we'll be missing from RVP, and Cazorla can chip in too.

I think the main reason why so many fans are angry is because of who we sold RVP to. Man Utd, before now, hadn't improved their squad drastically apart from Kagawa who is unproven. Gunners fans dared to dream of a transfer window where they spent more than both City and United.

By signing our captain, they've made a statement. This move would never have happened after our Invincible years, when United were our main rivals. Now, we're considered to be a selling club even to United, who are a club in serious decline compared to Chelsea and Man City. That Cesc or Nasri went to City and Barca is understandable, since both eventually ended up winning trophies. How many trophies did United win last season? a community shield. Were we that far away from United? No.

Yet the club still decided to sell to our main rivals for 3rd place, a move that I believe puts United on paper back in the title hunt. We'd have been better off selling him to Juventus for 15mil.

Disgraceful attitude. He reportedly wants 200,000K yet has the cheek to say he's "desperate" to join Utd.

    Good riddance, hope he flops.

You've gone barking mad. Without RVP we'd be 6th. A Liverpool side with RVP couldve clinched 4th. His goals are invaluable and I don't see another affordable striker on the market. If Podolski is his replacement then AW has lost the plot.

Gordon is a good shout. He's a naturally good keeper.

I believe James Shea could ready to step up, and Mannone isn't that bad.

You must be new here Timi. If you're expecting football banter, think again.

This board is plagued with jokes for human beings. The "ignore" button is widely used for the racists and open criminals (like Rikky).

Anyway, I think RVP's decision is purely to see if the club will use funds to buy new players. Podolski is a good signing, but I think Goetze and a holding midfielder would be enough to go further.

Walcott has been played out of position, we all know it. He's got two good attributed : finishing and pace, and one isn't being used.

Sagna is our best defensive player and the only player I see getting into the United, Chelsea and Tottenham teams without debate.

Arshavin (on form) is exactly the kind of player we need behind the strikers though, Andy. I'd keep him and change the system to a 4-4-2 :

    Szceseny

    Sagna-Djourou-Vermaelen-Gibbs/Santos

    Ox-Chamb-Song-Arshavin-Gervinho

    Walcott-RVP

We need something different and exciting.

As for the transfer funds, I'd buy the same players we've been asking AW to buy for years :

    -DM (Mvila) top priority
    -CB
-playmaker like Goetze to replace the creative void of Fabregas and Nasri.
    -cover at RB
