    "CL match in England fixed",,,

    by Robert M Feb 4, 2013 13:30

The Chelsea Barca game was the most obviously shocking result but the Ref didn't look like he cheated....unless Messi was paid to miss the penalty!

Man U seem to be king of owning Ref's and cheating via the way the FA treat them and clearly instruct Ref's to act so as not to incurr Fergie's rants!!

    Coloccini's high kick

    by Robert Feb 4, 2013 14:52

Defo Red for the hands round Coles throat. OK, he never did it violently but you just don't do it, so a red for me.

Colloccini's eyes never left the ball, so nothing deliberatly malicous in the 'attempt to get the ball'. A Yellow and a penalty would have been the right thing to do.................but injuries happen and it matters if it was deliberatly reckless or not.

    by MICHAEL B Jan 31, 2013 23:29

Seems more likely he's counting on the Parachute Payments more than Prem L money.

    Howdy

    Yes, it's a right mess.

My other team is Bristol City because it's my neck of the woods and I have seen them so many times..............To be honest, the days in the 4th division when we played excellent football were just as fantastic as the old Div 1 days but in a different way. These days if you slip away from the BIG money there is very little chance of a way back!

I chose Villa when i was a wee boy because I liked their kit!!!!! But to be honest, I just love football and like Villa above all other teams but i don't have that die hard support that would mkle me upset if they went down....maybe because it is not a bred in thing from generations of family due to living local to the team.

From my time watching football, i have Villa head and shoulders above the rest but Liverpool, Spurs and Southampton as the other teams i wish well to.

On the Ellis point..............you are dead right!

Well...............Money isn't going to be forked out to keep us up, that much is obvious.

I don't think Lerner knew what he was getting himself in for by owning a Premiership club. In American sport you can't get relegated, so any money spent will still get re-couped via TV deals etc.

OK, of course he knew teams can go down but he probably didn't understand just how a slight shift in power/finances/a poor signing or 2 etc could make a team slip from top 6 to bottom 3............and then the dilema of 'do i spend and stay up and rake in the millions, or would it be good many after bad '?

His heart does not seem to be in it and niether does his wallet.

Say what you like about Ken Bates but he left Villa (i believe) virtualy debt free.......................i don't think that's the case now.

I bet he would sell and run if he could get the right deal!

And IMO it's not an 'IF' we go down.............we are down. We have no spirit and fight, we can't score or defend. OK other teams are around us but in the current form table, we are bottom at the crucial stage.

Isn't there a football association rule

    by A Yahoo! User Jan 12, 2013 12:52

I know who it was aimed at Iron Pin...I was being flippant at Rikk (who also now seems to have the Ian harris ID????)

IMO, the fact the FA let him get away with it and the fact Man U get the rub of the green so much so you can tell Ref's are either biased or intimidated..................proves that the FA are not fit for purpose.

I don't see how the evidence over the years can be be seen any other way, unless you are a biased Man U fan who benefits from the FA's incomepetance..............Neutrals can see it and I am sure Man U fans can as well but they dress it up as different because the way of the football world is 'if it's in your favour just grab the luck and if you can cheat it, again, take it'

Sad days...not like the good old days

    Do me a favour!!!!!!!!!!!

In any other era someone like Ronaldo would be the worlds best player and be winning that trophy...what's it called, balloon Dior or something???

Messi has won it many times because he is the best in the world, maybe, in time the best ever.

I don't care who he (Ronaldo) used to play for, or currently plays for...................It is not open to debate that the selectors for worlds best player have got it wrong or right.

Ronaldo is bloody damn good. Man U took a raw talent who was little more than a show pony and polished the turd until it shone...................R Madrid took this shinning turd and made him even better (no question abouth the fact he has been even beyyer at Madrid than he was at Man U and that takes some doing)..........................BUT LIKE IT OR NOT, MESSI IS BETTER AND HAS BEEN FOR 3 YEARS OR MORE.

Same thing has been in effect in many sports such as Tennis. In most eras Nadal would be king but not when Federer was in the same era.

Some please..................nobody pout a silly argument that Ronaldo is better than Messir................it's absurd!

Form comes and goes, injuries and age takes it's toll.............so one day Messi may be eclipsed...........but at present, he has no equal

    Newcastle

Dangerous game cashing in on your sought after players all the time. Arsenal have been doing this for many years and fortunately replacing them with players that are good enough to keep them qualifying for the CL and doing ok in it.

I'm sure in some cases no amount of money would have kept them at the club (Fabregas maybe as Barca are his dream club)........But other times maybe Arsenal needed to spend some of this so called surplus cash sloshing around via the wage increase required to keep the players ambition satisfied. Would RVP have moved if Arsenal had paid him what although obcene, is the going rate?

IMO Arsenal have been lucky to chop and and change players this often and still maintain top 4 finishes...............But over the years the top 4 finishes are getting more and more competitive with other clubs and Arsenal are a country mile from winning the Prem these days.

I don't rate Walcott in the same bracket as RVP/Fabregas etc who have wanted to leave in order to get the best wage they can, so it depends on what he is asking.............but if it is reasonible, maybe Arsenal should pay?

Arsenal seem to think they can get players, pay them good money, develope them into 100k + a week quality and expect loyalty and they stay................Or is the plan all along to cash in and start again and again, and again?

    I don't buy it BUT

    by Alan C Dec 31, 2012 12:57

It would be good to see Ronaldo back in the Prem but why on earth would he come back?

Man U are a massive club but he has been there and done that. He wanted to go to Madrid for a dream move and it turned out to be a dream move indeed. If Messi wasn't around Ronaldo would be the best player on the planet by far......................I see no reason beyond wishfull thinking why he would even consider returning.

If Man U want to splash the cash, they could entice any number of top players to the club.................Ronaldo isn't one of them.
