Maybe we don't need another midfielder, after all, Yahoo have our midfielders as follows...
Joe Allen (WAL) 14 Mar 1990
Iago Aspas (ESP) 1 Aug 1987
Conor Coady (ENG) 25 Feb 1993
Stewart Downing (ENG) 22 Jul 1984
Steven Gerrard (ENG) 30 May 1980
Jordan Henderson (ENG) 17 Jun 1990
Lucas Leiva (BRA) 9 Jan 1987
Mike Marsh (ENG) 21 Jul 1969
Colin Pascoe (WAL) 9 Apr 1965
Philippe Coutinho (BRA) 12 Jun 1992
Jonjo Shelvey (ENG) 27 Feb 1992
Raheem Sterling (ENG) 8 Dec 1994
Suso (ESP) 19 Nov 1993
Maybe Carra should carry on for at least another 5/6 years!

Are you really that dumb? I said we have been 'poor' and I never even mentioned previous seasons! But 'yes' we have been poor for some time and again, that is the difference between the 2 clubs..... we have finished top 10 of the league for the last 20 plus years and that is poor by our standard during the 70s, 80s. Now your club, and their sad fans would consider that as good as winning the title! Granted you did qualify for the Champions League, can't remember seeing your little club in the group stages though!

It is as simple as this... Liverpool had a poor season and finished 7th.... everton had a great season and finish 6th... that is the difference in expectations of the 2 clubs!

Your 100% right. Furthermore, Sir Bob did his winning with a whole lot more grace and respect. And he also succeeded a great Manager as well.
Sir Bob.... gone but will never be forgotten!

Assaidi would have been a more positive sub than Skrtel. It looked more like we were making sure not to lose. You are correct about Coutinho, but from he does need to do more running with the ball near the box and in the box. And again we have failed to break down a fairly average side at home.

have to agree.... I wanted to give him time but he really does not have a clue, or more to the point, a Plan B. He cannot inspire the players at all.
As for my absence, I have just relocated from the UK to China for the next year or so. Hence, I am getting my footy online and not a good connection. I saw the first 5 mins of the Reading game and then lost it...... so it turned out a good day!!!!

good points you make.... although I think we need more than cavani to save us..... maybe a defender who can score from a set piece (can we actually score from one?) maybe 3 midfielders with proven ability rather than 'ones for the future', and maybe 2 forwards again with proven ability rather than 'young ones'! And notice how Brenda bigs up the goalkeeper, takes the focus off him and the team! 4points dropped, 2 goalless draws against poor sides but then again maybe that is the best it gets from an 'average' side!

I'm with you on that. It was a bit much all the praise given to Sterling, he scored a couple of good goals, a couple of good performances but nothing really major. His England call-up was a joke. Suzo, Wisdom, have looked just 'ok'. I do like Kelly, strong and determined but sadly, he is another 'Sicknote'.

Got bored with reading that....... try and use proper grammar, cut out the CAPS, leave the clichés out, but most of all, stop with trying to make Gerrard the new Messiah!

I agree with you, a really good effort, just not enough. But plenty of positives, Rodgers looked like he found some real passion and, most importantly, he got that passion across to the players. We need more home matches like that, full of passion, aggression and some good football.

Forgot Jovanovic but you have to be wrong about £120k a week? you have to be, that's just so wrong if its true!
Remember Istvan Kozma from Dunfermline.

I certainly disagree with you buddy... Your list of players who Rafa signed is a top list but.... I ask, did we win the league title under Rafa? (please don't reply 'well we did finish 2nd'!).
Alonso - Rafa attempted to ditch (to sign Barry) and peed him off.
Garcia - good signing, he sold him to early.
arbeloa - good, think he sold him (may be wrong)>
Lucas - not really that great a signing, average at best.
Skrtel - simply 'NO'
Sterling - good prospect but over the top praise is getting a bit stupid.
Kelly - sicknote (not his fault though).
Mascherano - another one who rafa upset.
And you forgot Crouch - never should have signed him and yet, he became pretty good and showed some bottle in not getting down about his scoring record. Rafa really stuck with him, built his confidence.... then decided to ignore him for the rest of his stay and sold him!
As the late great Marvin Gaye said ‘What’s going on?’ Benitez, Dalglish & Rodgers all have one major ‘talent’ in common... they have all paid BIG money for a lot of average players.
Aqualani £20 odd million
Keane £20 odd million
Pennent £8.5 million
Kuyt £10 million
Babel £13 million
Aurileo & Gonzalez (not big money but rafa did say ‘these 2 will light up the Premier League’)
Carroll £35 million
Downing £16 million
Henderson £20 million
Cole £free (but oh dear!)
Borini £10 million
Allen £16 million
All 3 managers did make some good signings but has another club spent this much money in the last few years on so many average players? (apart from QPR maybe!) and more importantly Why/How did they all get it so wrong?
Any thoughts would be well received because I am out of excuses and ideas! Not to mention damn frustrated!
(Any mistakes here are down to the 5 pints of Guinness I have consumed; I find it helps dull the pain!)

You can save us all some time and just keep re-posting your comment Mel! Concede late goals again! Team lacks stamina, bottle, etc. And just how bad are Allen, Downing, Henderson? 50 million quid worth of 'talent'!
Some good news for Rodgers though if/when he gets the boot... he can release a book of dumbass comments. 'Almost a perfect away performance', post-WBA I think it was something like 'we could have won the game'. 'Been on a terrific run of form' (9th place, defeat to poor Oldham side). Just words but at least have something constructive to say and be honest we need some real work!
- arnoldlayne arnoldlayne Feb 12, 2013 01:44 Flag
I am beginning to see Rodgers losing the plot. A rant for the Oldham loss, praise for 2 draws (both we should have won, 2-0 up in one!) and now praise for a 0-2 home defeat against a side with no clean sheet in 29 games (since Liverpool!). Rodgers says it was 'one of those days', I guess like Villa, Stoke, WBA, and a number of others. This mentality was evident under Rafa. It always seemed to be 'well we gave them a good game even though we lost'. And how can he say he wants top 4 but then accepts a result like tonight? And how does Shelvey, Henderson, Downing and Borini get to put on that RED shirt, a real insult I think!

fella, I have no idea the point of your post, come back with a proper reply (although I do like to educate the abnormal) "each day so hurry up Arnold get u works sorted and get :normal:" what the hell does that mean? And you say im on drugs!! Your an old fella, enjoy the last few months of your time and go play with your model trains and take your boyfriend ron with you. If you are both LFC fans then do please STOP and go somewhere else! Lots more I could say but the phone is ringing and I hope its my PCP dealer (and 'junkies' WANT to get high not feel 'normal', thats the whole point of drugs, dumbass)

bloody hell, for one thing i can only hope that suarez gets more goals this season than you put cliche's in your post. That said, Saurez will not get 20-odd league goals, we who know football know he is not a composed finisher. Wait I here you say, he has scored 2 goals already but we need him to score 2 and 3 goals in a game (after all, according to many he is a great player, a world class player, etc). Yet look at the facts, both goals came in draws, he has had a number of chances in 3 matches he has played (he was bloody terrible thursday for 87 mins but does score a good goal). Kuyt??? im preaching to idiots here, the guy had a damn good work rate, he would run all day but you need a bit more than that, hell, a lot more!
