fair point, though I really hope he stays, I can forgive his attitude...plus I think he'd be hard to replace, he's one of the better LB's around IMO.
On another topic, why wasn't Gomes listed as released by Spurs last week, surely his awful contract is now up?

I'm puzzled too about BAE Sfer...I agree, his lack of passion for Spurs irks me but the guy is quality, apart from his occasional moments of madness...we haven't got a replacement, Naughton is nothing special IMO, but when we're flowing, BAE is a great support down the LHS - is it you just don't like his attitude or you don't rate him?

I was at the game, first half was dreadful, so bad I left to get a pie on 35 odd mins and missed Defoe's first goal!!!
mind you, the beef and beer pie was bloody good
2nd half we had a half hour of flowing Spurs, we could have scored 6 - Sandro was pick of them, Dempsey was better but still looked like he doesn't know where to play...third goal was a thing of typical Spurs beauty
I heard the hissing, pretty nasty, even though we drowned it out...and had the pleasure of bumping into Kentish!!

yep, we're going to take some convincing...something just isn't right with us, feels like we're going backwards...how the hell are we 5th?!!!!

yes he does look unfit SB...or at least slow and immobile...did you see Dawson's interview on Saturday morning the other week, he was asked who was the hardest trainer at Spurs and he replied Hudd....maybe he was joking!

God it's kinda sad to read that Sfer...he's one of those players I want to like and appreciate, but you're right, his game hasn't come on, and what exactly is it he does? put like you did, it's clear the answer is very little...we can get away with him as a luxury in an attacking flowing typical successsful Spurs style of game, but when things get tough, he is a liability...
he's almost Jenas light

from the 'highlights', I thought we looked a total shambles...it's not as if we're even playing great and being unlucky, there is no Spurs rythm that we're renowned for...
WTF is going to happen in January, are we going to continue paying those 2 misfits, Bentley and Gomes to do absolutely nothing!!! why keep them?!! clear their wages, get rid of Bentley for 2m and Gomes for 3m and use the 5m towards someone we actually rate or who cares about actually doing sometihng for his wage...Levy must know their value is dropping by the day...give them away if we have to, cancel their f*ckin contracts, I don't know...they don't give a damn about the club so treat them accordingly! angry

no, sorry I cant agree...he hasnt 'blatantly cheated' for a reasonable proportion...he's kicked and fouled time after time, game after game...reckon I might go down easier than most with the lack of protection he's had...and he's smart enough to take the foul, or avoid it...not the career threatening injury...he did not appeal for anything after falling under challenge versus Villa...you can't blame the guy for expecting to get kicked...

yes...but it's an enforced respect...rarely will a ref get any praise, far from it...but you're right H, there is very much a feeling of 'letting your teammates down' if you transgress...as I personally know only too well, it's often simply giving too much lip...this comes from so many unpunished offences leading to a sense of grievance, leading to an unconrollable rage at life being so unfair and the wish to f****n batter someone...usually just before you get sent off...anyway, moving on...

I'm no soccer player but have played rugby for nearly 40 years, on and off...and believe me H, flaunting the laws is far more commonplace...if a ref applied the letter of the law in rugby, there would be no game, in rugby it's all about interpretation...so many 'wrong doings' for almost the whole game...whether it be kneeling, puting pressure on the opponents neck while slowly getting up from the mosh pit fist fight on the floor, to deliberately knocking a ball forward to break up an attack, when there is no chance of actually catching it, then protesting your innocence...refs cannot see all that goes on and players generally accept this...eye gouging is one of the few things that all players consider crosses the line...
it's a mess but I love it!

I don't see the problem, it wasn't a dive to win anything...he thought he was going to be clattered and instinct took over, different if he'd actually appealed for anything...he didn't dive, he took evasive action to protect himself...so what?
- jimmy pearce jimmy pearce Sep 27, 2012 19:47 Flag
I've never thought he was quite 'right'...I remember a few years back, when we beat them at the Lane with Lennon I think getting the winner, he made some comment at a corner and was surrounded by our furious black players...but only them...he got away with it that time...

I get what you're saying NBR, he's dangerous off the bench but he's started the season so well, while he keeps scoring surely he has to get a good run of games and be our first choice upfront...work Adebayor in when we can but play Defoe while he's hot
- jimmy pearce jimmy pearce Sep 26, 2012 14:05 Flag
I agree with both of you, Joe & SB...I guess we just have to see how this team evolves and be prepared to be flexible home and away...Parker may well be coming to the end of his first choice days, Sandro looks to be learning very fast but yes, we do seem to pick up our share of injuries...not sure how exactly Defoe/Ade will work out, 2 up front or not
Walker def gives us options with his pace from FB - but I love to see Lennon in full flow when he's 'on'!
- jimmy pearce jimmy pearce Sep 26, 2012 00:48 Flag
I like to play both Lennon and Bale but maybe, wth only one MF postion place up for grabs, Lennon needs to be sarificed and we pay a real front two of Defoe and Adebayor/Depsey...Lennon and Bale are electic but leave us short in the middle sometimes..and Walker can still threaten on the rght

hey Sfer, long time...
he can only ruin it if you and others let him, given I've never been a prolific poster but every time I come back recently this is all there is...dont allow yourself to get drawn back into this nonsense, he wont stop while you guys feed him you know?
please...and SB too...meant well...we must have other things to talk about..surely
