What is the point of Stoke?

Stoke? Only it supplied the whole world with its pottery for more than a century.
Only Stoke City is the second oldest established Football club in the world and it was in the original football league- a lot more than the infamous London clubs- where I now live amongst them. It has the largest number of leagues in the Potteries than any other city for its size, and most of all produced the finest winger in the country STANLEY MATHEWS, At one time Stoke City had eleven international players, NOT IMPORTED.

  • My Chelsea colleague admits Stoke gave them a run for their money at Stamford Bridge. His forecast? Stoke won't go down- there are far more poor sides ready for the drop. Stoke will not be one of them, barring injuries. Tony Pullis has done a great job this last 7 months and is a most positive manager (which is vital in the Premiership.) Do Stoke supporters not agree?

My Chelsea colleague admits that when Stoke visited Stamford Bridge they gave them a scare. On recent form the Potters have drawn away at Aston Villa as well as Liverpool. At home the supporters give the away team the jitters and thats worth one point to start. With Beattie on top form and the squad now confident the outcome is excellent. Tony Pullis did well with the January transfers- they are now producing the goods. Well done Potters from a London based fan who was born in the Potteries!

STOKE WILL STAY UP! -This is because of the confidence the squad have following recent results. To draw away at Liverpool and Aston Villa prove they have staying power. At home the away team suffer the Stoke chanting supporters- thats worth a one point start. Tony Pullis was right with his January signings (especially James Beattie) backed by Peter Coates. Baring injuries I am positive and agree with my Chelsea supporter friend , who stated Stoke will stay up. So there! Am a London resident but my heart is still with thePotters!

  • Tony Pulis is right. The squad need stengthening to give the defence a boost- as well as the attack with Fuller out for misbehaviour and Sidbe injured they are lacking strong strikers. Now the squad has Etherington and Beattie signed this month Fred from Brazil will seal it.
The team will NOT, repeat NOT be relegated this season. A colleague of mine who goes to Chelsea each week admitted the Potters gave them a scare and in his opnion he considered the team were Premiership status over some other clubs he mentioned. The outcome- keep at it Potters- the wins will come now !
