Not boring at all, Al, but a bit galling as G McQ played in our 73-74 season when we went 29 games without defeat - shadows of the past and Leeds presently is a shadow of its past. If you see the big guy buy him a pint - it's on Bryan!

  • Remember mentioning to you guys quite a while back about standing next to him in Marks and Sparks and what a giant of a guy he is. Just been reading about his throat cancer which he appears to have battled through and his dodgy knees. HE loves the north of England, LEEDS etc, he's now in Hutton Rudby where he's lived for 20 years, 10 miles or so from me. He says that's his definite final watering hole.
    H---am I boring you Ernie.

Something very fishy going on. Why does it take longer for the authorities to ratify a change of ownership for LU than any other club?

Pity Billy Bremner wasn't still around, he could charge in there and get it sorted.

Just shows how loyal or over loyal fans can be, Bryan. You say the gates are up despite what you guys are having to go through.

You could be right Andy, but I am beginning to think there is more to this saga than meets the eye.
We are now between the devil and the deep blue sea. Cellini looks like he will pass the fit and proper test, and there is no doubt he has the money to invest. The mixed consortium are more palatable, but where will the investment come from? And where has all the money gone yet again?
According to reports we are losing money hand over fist, and yet gates are up, sponsorship is up, and the bankers are losing money? Someone must be paying themselves fortunes or else the interest on loans must be the highest in the world. Looks like we are being dredged before the Somerset levels!

  • What a nightmare day!
GFH have shown their true colours and although Cellini may have agreed terms with how the hell can he pass the FL's fit and proper ruling. He couldn't when he tried to buy Palace and if he thinks forming a family company without his name on the sheet will pull the wool over the FL's eyes he should be very wrong. However, with Shaun Harvey in charge there who the hell knows!
To have the audacity to sack Big Mac (whether you are a fan of his or not), when you do not yet officially own the club is a mystery to me, but GFH must have given him the go ahead, which for me puts them in the NOT fit and proper category.
Under the circumstances the team did everyone proud and whether that form can be sustained remains to be seen. In the meantime we are a laughing stock once again, and I for one am not happy!

31000 for the Huddersfield game despite being on a 6 match losing run. Average gates this year well up on last year yet we are apparently haemorrhaging money. something is not quite right!

  • You guys have done well to pull the Sunderland guy in, I reckon you'll be impressed when you see him out there.

Still here, Andy, but all the boards are sinking fast. You guys must be pessed right off with lack of stabilisation. Was telling you guys about Pools Jack Baldwin being a gem. Somehow Peterboro snapped him up for £750,000. He'll move on from there, but Pools couldn't turn the cash down.

It seems to me that GFH bought the Bates franchise and handbook on how to run a football club - rule one, don't invest! We forget too easily that what Leeds fans wanted was quality players coming in before the transfer window shut. Like in any sleight of hand trick our attention has been diverted - hey presto, no new players come in and we're not even discussing it! Instead, we are defending a manager who, under normal circumstances in a results driven profession, would have expected to get the sack after his team's historically abysmal performance.
GFH is playing corporate mind games - and probably still covering Bates' dark dealings. There are multi billionaires looking to buy English football clubs and it beggars belief that none have even considered buying the sleeping giant that is Leeds United. I suspect the reason is that if a strong potential owner appeared, one rich and honest enough not be bribed into silence about past dealings, he, or she, would be shunned by our present management.

I still look out for Pools' results and, sadly, they're as depressing as what's (what isn't) going on at Leeds.

Hignett's jumped ship and left Colin Cooper to it, back to the Boro as sort of desperation on their part. Pools are okay, good little club, tidy ground with great supporters. We all know the situation cash wise so there's no pressure. Got 3 or 4 young lads who are certainly going places. Watch out for Bradley Walker, 17 and Luke James, 17 with 14 goals so far this term. And good luck you guys, you've been through the mill behind the scenes---things must get better before long.
H---You can have Walker for £750,000

I can't see McDemott keeping his job after that humiliation... And it's not the first; we were humiliated at the Wendies and at Rochdale. On the three strikes and you're out principle, McDermott has to go!

  • But a win is what I'm hoping for - especially with Cellino attending the game!
This board has gone quiet again... I tried to make a post last week but it got knocked back because, I think, I included a link to a blog about Elland Road shenanigans.

Hi Al. It's good to see you're still there. Conor Wickham is a great (loan) signing for Leeds - I'm surprised the Black Cats let him go. Maybe we have Gus Poyet to thank. Two quality additions in as many weeks and we're looking for a third... It's like wise men (or is it wise guys!): you wait all year and at Christmas three come at once! Cellino's influence feels a bit like Christmas at Leeds; although it would have been better if he could have bought the club in December when we had a chance of promotion....
What's the prospect for Pools? I saw the result on Saturday

We have quite a few promising youngsters coming through the Leeds Academy but manager McDermott has become reluctant to using them... As ever, us Leeds fans are mystified about what goes on behind the scenes at Elland Road - and at the FL! How much is a ST for Pools!
