  2. 0' The rest of the top 10: 4.Bautista 5.Pirro 6.Dovi 7.Abraham 8.Petrucci 9.Ellison 10.Rossi

  3. 0' Nakasuga second and Stoner ends his grand prix career with a podium in third. Yamaha test rider Nakasuga was sixth in last year's damp Valencia race and has bettered that excellent result this year.

  4. 0' Pedrosa crosses the line to win the final race of the season!

  5. 1' Before Pedrosa begins the last lap, Stoner late on the brakes and past Bautista easily for third.

  6. 2' Stoner right behind him now and should pass him before the end. He has gained so much time on him in the last few laps.

  7. 3' And Stoner now coming up on Bautista. Pedrosa 38 seconds clear.

  8. 4' And now the gap is four seconds. Bautista has finished in the top six at the last seven races, and should do so again. Calendar and results

  9. 5' Stoner the fastest man on track and has Bautista in his sights. Under six seconds between them.

  10. 7' He lost the front end slightly as he was leaning over and fell on to the tarmac, sliding along next to the bike for a heart-stopping second or two before it moved away from him. It might have clipped his right arm but he is able to get away from the track anyway with the bike heading into the barriers. He was 30 seconds ahead of third place.

  11. 7' AND CRUTCHLOW IS OUT!!!!

  12. 8' Should Crutchlow keep the bike on the track, meanwhile, he will become the first British rider since Ron Haslam in 1987 to score back-to-back podium finishes in the top class.

  13. 9' Lorenzo was bidding for a new record of 17 podium finishes in a premier class season. Stoner up to fifth...

  14. 10' Avintia Blusens wildcard Claudio Corti crashes out.

  15. 10' You can watch all the action from this race in the delayed programme on British Eurosport at 2pm UK time. Or on the Player. Watch on Eurosport Player

  16. 11' Ellison past Rossi for 10th. Maybe he doesn't want to risk anything ahead of his return to Yamaha. Barbera now off and out.

  17. 12' Pedrosa has lapped Rossi, who stands 10th. With Pedrosa 23 seconds out in front, the riders are strung out all over the circuit.

  18. 13' Stoner is seventh on his final appearance, seemingly keeping out of trouble before riding off into the sunset. But his lap-times are improving... maybe a tilt at the podium to finish?

  19. 14' He was lapping Ellison - and we are denied that showdown at the front. Neither tyre proving any good.

  20. 15' Pedrosa then leading the race from Briton Cal. Lorenzo cadges a lift back to the garage.

  21. 17' He suffered the mother of all wobbles, somehow keeping the bike upright, before it spat him off in a flip - he landed on his back and slid along in the gravel ahead of the bike, which is pretty ruined. The Spaniard is up and hobbling away from the track.

  22. 17' LORENZO OFF!!!!!!!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY HUGE CRASH!!!!

  23. 17' Crutchlow is in third, past Nakasuga.

  24. 18' Will Lorenzo hold him off? Come on, MotoGP fans, have your say on the race! Tweet me @symco_eurosport

  25. 19' Pedrosa, who started from pole for the first time since the San Marino GP, now half a second behind race leader Lorenzo and embroiled in a battle.

  26. 20' Bradl is okay. Colin Edwards has changed bike too.

  27. 21' Stoner up to ninth on the dry tyres and Bradl dumps his bike in the kitty litter in spectacular fashion!

  28. 22' Rolfo crashes out. Positions six down are: 6. Bautista 7. Pirro 8. Petrucci 9. De Puniet 10.Corti 11.Espargaro 12.Rossi 13.Stoner 14.Edwards 15.Ellison 16.Barbera 17.Edwards 18.Aoyama

  29. 24' Pedrosa is through for second and Bradl will attack Nakasuga. Lorenzo 2.7 seconds clear of Dani at the end of the lap.

  30. 24' So the top five now are Lorenzo, Katsuyuki Nakasuga, Pedrosa, Bradl, Crutchlow.

  31. 25' Lorenzo is in the lead of the race as Espargaro comes in for slicks and also Valentino Rossi. The world champion rewarded for his bold choice of tyre in what was officially a wet race.

  32. 26' Stoner and Dovi come in to change bike to get slick rubber.

  33. 27' Hayden has also crashed and Lorenzo is working his way up, into third... crazy race.

  34. 27' Barbera comes into the pits while Ivan Silva is off into the gravel but okay.

  35. 28' Dovizioso takes the lead as the riders tentatively work their way around the track with the rest of the top 10 as follows: 2. Espargaro, Stoner, Valentino Rossi, Lorenzo, Hector Barbera, Karel Abraham, James Ellison, Roberto Rolfo and Stefan Bradl.

  36. 29' Andrea Dovizioso is second after starting from the back of the second row with Stoner holding third after the first lap.

  37. 30' Aleix Espargaro through from 10th to take the lead as Lorenzo drops to sixth at the start!

  38. 13:01 A whole load of riders including Pedrosa and Nicky Hayden are starting from the pitlane to use slicks!

  39. 12:59 Warm-up lap underway. Stoner is aiming to become the first full-time GP rider to retire with a victory since Kenny Roberts in 1983.

  40. 12:56 So what is the right decision - slicks or wets? And how will Stoner do on his final appearance? Get in touch. Tweet me @symco_eurosport

  41. 12:54 Cal Crutchlow: "Lorenzo has gone with the slicks, we're all going with the wets."

  42. 12:53 And that man Stoner: "I don't really want to be here. These are not the conditions I wanted to end my career in. It is one of the worst I have ever seen. It is taking a long time to dry... it is disappointing - in the dry we would have had a chance... we're going to stay with wets."

  43. 12:50 And it remains wet for the premier class race. Lorenzo: "We are going to use the dry tyres so it is going to difficult for the first few laps - don't make any mistakes."

  44. 12:49 Marc Marquez capped off his Moto2 championship-winning season with an extraordinary ride from the back of the field to victory in the wet. Moto2: Champ Marquez wins from back of grid

  45. 12:48 Briton Danny Kent beat his Moto3 champion team-mate Sandro Cortese to victory with a last-corner move. Moto3: Kent beats Cortese in dramatic finish

  46. 12:47 Dani Pedrosa denied champion Jorge Lorenzo and Honda team-mate Stoner pole with a scintillating record lap in qualifying. Pedrosa sets lap record

  47. 12:45 Casey Stoner bids farewell to racing at the season-ending Valencia MotoGP.
