Martin Allen is looking to further strengthen his attacking options - despite npower League Two leaders Gillingham bagging 10 goals in five unbeaten games.
The Gills were rumoured to have launched a six-figure bid for a striker on transfer deadline day, although the loan window is now open. Danny Kedwell already has five goals in all competitions, while Deon Burton and Myles Weston are on two apiece, with fit-again frontman Adam Birchall easing his way back in and Ben Strevens also available.
But Allen's desire to bolster his strikeforce remains. He told KentOnline: "The chairman and Andy Hessenthaler have been dealing with that. My remit is to put together a list of players who could help us, and it's up to them to get on with it."
He added: "I know the offers that have been bandied about, there has been a lot of money offered, and if they don't come for that or the bid's not accepted we move on to the next one. The chairman is very ambitious and the offers that have been made are very generous.
"Hopefully we may be able to bring in another experienced striker, that's what we are looking to do.
"I think it is essential to the spine in the middle of the team to have somebody with stature and knowledge."
