Michaela Kirchgasser of Austria reacts after winning the Alpine Skiing World Cup women's slalom race in Schladming March 17, 2012.

The Austrian made a decision to skip this Saturday's event after a crash in training last week in Hintertux resulted in an injured knee.

The 27-year-old from Salzburg damaged the same knee and underwent surgery in May 2010.

"Soelden or ski racing in general only makes sense if you are 100 per cent fit and can give it 100 per cent," Kirchgasser said.

"This is at the moment not possible and hence my decision is easily justified. I will use this week for intensive therapy, to be fully fit for the entire winter season."
