Andrei Arlovski Out for Six to Eight Weeks Following Shoulder Surgery

No. 7 ranked UFC heavyweight Andrei Arlovski will be out of commission for a while following successful arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder last week.

Arlovski’s manager, Leo Khorolinksy, informed UFC Tonight that the former UFC heavyweight titleholder would be sidelined for six to eight weeks while he recovers and rehabilitates.

The Belarusian held the UFC strap in 2005 and defended it twice before losing to Tim Sylvia at UFC 59. Following his UFC 82 win over Jake O’Brien, Arlovski voluntarily left the organization to fight in other promotions. He fought for Affliction, EliteXC, Strikeforce, ProElite, ONE FC, and World Series of Fighting before returning to the Octagon in June.

The 35-year-old is currently riding a four-fight winning streak. He’s won both of his fights since returning to the UFC and is coming off a first-round knockout of Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in his last outing at UFC Fight Night 51 on Sept. 13.
