Anthony Johnson Indefinitely Suspended by UFC Following Report of Domestic Incident

Following a report that said Anthony Johnson allegedly struck the mother of two of his children and knocked out some of her teeth, the fighter has been indefinitely suspended by the UFC.

Promotional officials made the announcement Friday after an initial report from Bloody Elbow that cited the alleged victim and a police report from a local bureau. The woman's name was not revealed.

“We are aware of the situation involving Anthony Johnson. As a result, we are suspending him indefinitely,” UFC officials wrote in a statement. “We are using a third-party law firm to conduct a formal investigation and once we have more information, we’ll determine whether further course of action is necessary.”

According to the report from the website, Johnson's alleged victim said the fighter struck her in 2012 and the force of the blow knocked out two of her teeth. The alleged victim also claims that the incident happened at her place of work and that security-camera footage confirms the altercation taking place.

The alleged victim has since engaged in several verbal altercations with the fighter and received threatening phone calls and text messages from people whom she believes to be Johnson's associates.

The woman recently filed a report with local authorities and, at the suggestion of police, has since secured a restraining order.

Johnson's attorney denied the allegations made by the alleged victim, and explained that the truth will come out at a pending civil hearing.

“Anthony categorically denies all allegations and looks forward to his court date in the civil matter,” said Frank Smith, attorney for the fighter, adding, “where the truth and lies will be established.”

Johnson was on a career surge before news broke of his alleged domestic issues, winning eight fights in a row, his two latest in a return to the UFC. The fighter had been campaigning for a fight against top contender Alexander Gustafsson, but plans for his next battle in the Octagon will be put on hold until his outside-the-cage problems are resolved.
