Anthony Pettis Injured, Edson Barboza Steps in at UFC on FOX 16

UFC on FOX 21 Results: Anthony Pettis Wins Featherweight Debut; Aims for Conor McGregor's Belt

Anthony Pettis is injured and out of his scheduled fight with Myles Jury at UFC on FOX 16.

Having fought twice since returning from a yearlong absence due to a knee injury, the former UFC lightweight champion is again on the sidelines, this time due to an elbow injury. UFC officials revealed the news of Pettis' injury on FOX Sports Live on Thursday night.

Jury will remain on the fight card, but now faces Edson Barboza at the July 25 event in Chicago.

Jury (15-1) enters the fight coming off of the first loss of his career. He kicked off 2015 with a unanimous-decision loss to Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 182. He's looking to get back on track after rocketing up the UFC's lightweight division, winning his first six bouts in the Octagon.

Barboza (15-3) is also looking to rebound from a loss in his most recent fight. He lost a unanimous decision to Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 61 in February. Barboza had just been getting back on track following his own loss to Cerrone early last year, winning back-to-back bouts over Evan Dunham and Bobby Green before entering the Johnson fight.

A bantamweight championship rematch between current titleholder TJ Dillashaw and challenger Renan Barão headlines UFC on FOX 16.
