The 28-year-old, who won 400m gold in Beijing back in 2008, was edged out by Sanya Richards-Ross in the Olympic Stadium in London and had to settle for silver.

And while the disappointment of finishing one spot off the top of the podium was very real at the time, Ohuruogu insists she has bounced back in style, starting with the first Diamond League meeting in Doha earlier this month.

In that race the Brit came home third but with the whole summer ahead of her the former world champion is itching to set the record straight.

"I was a little disappointed with the silver but I think I'm over that now," Ohuruogu said

"I had a really good season last year and that gives me the opportunity to push on this season.

"Doha was fun, a nice opener, I came third which was a bit disappointing, but it was lovely and nice to catch up with the other athletes."

And with Gateshead playing host to the European Team Championships next month Ohuruogu is looking forward to strutting her stuff in front of a home crowd for the first time since London 2012.

"It's a great chance for everyone to get behind our sport," Ohuruogu continued.

"Everyone loves athletics, watching athletics and being in an athletics so it's a great opportunity to come and watch us once again."
