Bailey hits out at new 'unfair' Ryobi Cup format

Sydney, Sept 30 (ANI): Australian limited-overs player George Bailey has said that he has serious reservations about the newly re-formatted Ryobi Cup that saw his team lose by 81 runs in the opening game against New South Wales. According to News.com.au, the month-long domestic limited-overs tournament will be played at suburban grounds around Sydney, which Bailey admits is disappointing for the rest of the teams involved. More worryingly, Tasmania's captain believes the new format will make it difficult for teams to uncover raw talent, the report said. Bailey said that it was really challenging to have all the games in a four-week period because particularly later on in the year when the international games are on, it would be hard for players to push for selection. He also said that it was going to be hard for states to actually blood new players, adding that the season was getting shorter and shorter, making it harder to practice playing one-day cricket. (ANI)
