(Adds later games) July 27 (The Sport Xchange) - Highlights of Monday's Major League Baseball games. - - - Royals 9, Indians 4 Eric Hosmer had three hits, including a home run and four RBIs, and Kendrys Morales had three hits and three RBIs as the Kansas City Royals routed the Cleveland Indians 9-4 at Progressive Field. Hosmer's three-run home run in the first inning off right-hander Cody Anderson set the tone, and the Royals rolled over the reeling Indians. Cleveland have lost five in a row and have been outscored 35-9 over the stretch. - - - Rays 5, Tigers 2 Rays starter Nathan Karns took a one-hitter into the seventh inning and catcher Curt Casali hit two home runs to lead Tampa Bay to a 5-2 win over the Detroit Tigers in the opener of a three-game series at Tropicana Field. The Rays (50-51) had gone 13 consecutive games without scoring more than four runs but ended that streak when Casali hit a two-run homer in the eighth. - - - Orioles 2, Braves 1 (11 innings) Matt Wieters led off the bottom of the 11th inning with a home run that gave the Baltimore Orioles a 2-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves in an interleague match-up on Monday. Orioles' catcher Wieters crushed a 1-0 pitch from left-hander Luis Avilan (2-4) to center to snap a 1-1 tie and give the Orioles (49-49) their third straight victory. - - - Cardinals 4, Reds 1 Lance Lynn helped the St. Louis Cardinals earn their eighth win in 10 games since the All Star break with a 4-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds at Busch Stadium. Second baseman Kolten Wong provided all the backing Lynn needed with a fourth-inning grand slam. - - - White Sox 10, Red Sox 8 Adam Eaton hit a game-opening triple and collected three hits and a pair of RBIs in his return as the Chicago White Sox earned a 10-8 win over the Boston Red Sox in the opener of a four-game series at Fenway Park. The designated hitter, who missed Sunday's finale in Cleveland with a shoulder injury, tied the game at 7-7 with a double in the sixth and singled in the go-ahead run an inning later. Chicago (47-50) won their fourth straight and pounded out 15 hits while feasting on a shaky start from Red Sox right-hander Joe Kelly, who did not make it out of the third inning. - - - Yankees 6, Rangers 2 Alex Rodriguez hit a home run on his 40th birthday, and shortstop Didi Gregorius set a career high with four RBIs, as the New York Yankees pounded the Texas Rangers 6-2. Designated hitter Rodriguez added an insurance run in the sixth inning with his solo homer to right. The home run off Texas starter Matt Harrison made Rodriguez just the fourth player in the majors to homer in his teens and his 40s. - - - Cubs 9, Rockies 8 Kris Bryant hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth as the Chicago Cubs rallied for a 9-8 victory over the Colorado Rockies. Bryant's 14th home run of the season drove in center fielder Dexter Fowler with two out. - - - Giants 4, Brewers 2 Brandon Crawford smacked his 15th home run, and rookie right-hander Chris Heston earned his 11th win, as the San Francisco Giants took a 4-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in the opener of a three-game series. Crawford took over the team lead in home runs during a three-run fourth inning. The shortstop's two-run shot propelled the Giants to their sixth consecutive win, their seventh in a row over the Brewers. - - - Diamondbacks 4, Mariners (10 innings) Arizona third baseman Jake Lamb, a native of Seattle who played at nearby University of Washington, delivered the game-winning RBI with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the top of the 10th inning to lead the Diamondbacks to a 4-3 win over the Seattle Mariners on Monday. With one out, Lamb flew out to shallow center field, but Mariners outfielder Austin Jackson had trouble getting the ball out of his glove and made a late throw home.
