De La Rosa went 7 1/3 innings while Carlos Gonzalez, Daniel Descalso and third baseman Nolan Arenado all homered for Colorado (13-20). The Dodgers fell to 23-13. - - - Tigers 4, Cardinals 3 (10 innings) Shortstop Jose Iglesias' tie-breaking two-out RBI single in the top of the 10th lifted Detroit to a 4-3 victory. David Price struck out nine batters in 6 2/3 innings of a no-decision for the Tigers (23-14), who beat St. Louis (24-12) for the second straight game and tied Kansas City for first place in the American League Central. - - - Yankees 5, Royals 1 Left-hander C.C. Sabathia won his second straight start and third baseman Chase Headley belted a three-run homer as the New York Yankees beat the Kansas City Royals 5-1 to snap a season-worst four-game losing streak. Yankees (22-16) designated hitter Alex Rodriguez homered in the ninth inning, It was his 10th of the season and 664th of his career. Kansas City dropped to 23-14 with the loss. - - - Giants 11, Reds 2 Hunter Pence enjoyed a stellar season debut for San Francisco, but shortstop Brandon Crawford was the star, going 3-for-5 with a double and grand slam, lifting the Giants to an 11-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. The White Sox (16-17) beat Oakland for the second straight time and won their fourth straight series. Danks (2-3) held the A's (13-25) to two runs on eight hits. - - - Astros 6, Blue Jays 5 Chris Carter belted a go-ahead, three-run homer in the sixth inning and the Houston Astros rallied past the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 for their fourth consecutive win. The blast pushed the Astros (24-13) to a 5-3 advantage and Marwin Gonzalez added a solo homer. The Blue Jays fell to 17-21. - - - Cubs 4, Pirates 1 Jon Lester struck out seven and the Chicago Cubs mustered just enough offense against Pittsburgh left-hander Gerrit Cole to extend their winning streak to six games with a 4-1 win. Lester (4-2) went seven innings while Cubs (21-15) third baseman Kris Bryant scored two runs and went 2-for-2. - - - Twins 6, Rays 4 A two-run seventh inning helped the Minnesota Twins to a 6-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays (20-18). Eduardo Escobar went 4-for-4 with an RBI in the inning that saw Minnesota (21-16) break a 3-3 tie. - - - Braves 5, Marlins 3 Second baseman Jace Peterson hit a grand slam for his first career home run, leading the Atlanta Braves to a 5-3 victory over the Miami Marlins. The last Atlanta (17-19) player to make his first home run a grand slam was Marcus Giles in May of 2001. Miami fell to 16-21. - - - Angels 6, Orioles 1 Chris Iannetta and Marc Krauss contributed back-to-back RBI singles in the seventh inning, while Mike Trout and David Freese added solo homers later, as the Los Angeles Angels improved their winning streak to five with a 6-1 victory over Baltimore. Matt Shoemaker tossed seven innings to get the win for the Angels (19-17) and dropped the Orioles to 15-19. - - - Nationals 4, Padres 1 Washington right-hander Max Scherzer held the Padres scoreless on four hits over seven innings and the Nats jumped on starter Andrew Cashner for three runs in the first inning to beat San Diego 4-1. Washington fell to 21-17. - - - Phillies 7, Diamondbacks 5 Grady Sizemore had four hits and slumping second baseman Chase Utley went 2-for-3 with two RBIs as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-5. Right fielder Jeff Francoeur homered for Philadelphia (15-23), who matched their season-high run total while extending their season-long winning streak to four. - - - Indians 10, Rangers 8 The Cleveland Indians scored three runs in the ninth inning, capped by second baseman Jason Kipnis' two-run homer off right-hander Neftali Feliz, for a 10-8 comeback victory over the Texas Rangers. Kipnis was 3-for-6 with two RBIs and two runs scored in a game that featured 27 hits. - - - Red Sox 4, Mariners 2 The Boston Red Sox beat Seattle 4-2 and kept Mariners ace Felix Hernandez to his shortest outing in more than a month, handing him his first loss of the season.
