Benson Henderson Steps Up to Face Brandon Thatch at UFC Fight Night in Colorado

Former UFC Champ Benson Henderson to Challenge for Bellator Belt in First Fight

Benson Henderson will step in on short notice and add 15 pounds to his frame for the main event at UFC Fight Night 60 in Colorado, officials announced late Saturday night.

Henderson, a former lightweight champion who has long considered a move to welterweight, will fight Brandon Thatch at 170 pounds in the main event on the Feb. 14 card.

Henderson was booked to fight Jorge Masvidal at the UFC Fight Night 63 event in Fairfax, Va., but received a call to take on Thatch after Stephen Thompson had to bow out of the fight due to injury.

Thatch is an up-and-comer at welterweight and comes into the bout as a winner of 1o in a row, two the in the UFC. His two wins within the confines of the Octagon were stoppages in the first round.

UFC Fight Night 60: Henderson vs. Thatch is scheduled to take place at the in Broomfield, Colo., at the city's 1st Bank Center.
