Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Scott Bevan will miss the start of the new season as he continues to recover from wrist surgery.
Bevan underwent an operation to correct a long-standing injury in May and was expected to be out for around three months. However, manager Mark McGhee announced on Thursday that he could be out for a longer spell.
He told the club's official website: "We always thought that Scott's recuperation period was likely to be in the region of 10 to 12 weeks, but now it's looking as though it will be a little longer."
He added: "That means he is going to miss the start of the season and we will decide what to do about that as we go through pre-season."
Teenager Conor Gough deputised for Bevan on the final game of last season and is first in line to take his place in the Pirates' opening match against Oxford on August 18.
