Loginov had to settle for silver on his last outing in the 2x6+2x7.5km mixed relay on Monday as Johannes Boe and Vetle Sjastad Christiansen led their Norwegian quartet to gold.

That second-place finish followed swiftly on from Loginov beating Christiansen in the junior men’s 12.5km pursuit the day before and vice versa in the 10km sprint on the opening morning.

However Loginov ensured it was him on top of the podium this time around in the junior men’s 15km individual in Brezno-Osrblie with a winning time of 36:59.3minutes.

That was almost seven seconds ahead of Boe, brother of Olympic and three-time world champion Tarjei, who accrued just one penalty like Loginov but couldn’t match the pace of the Russian.

Christiansen this time had to settle for bronze nearly two minutes further back in 38.47.8 but comfortably ahead of Florent Claude of France who clocked 37:10.9.

However there was a Norwegian gold medal to cheer as Marion Roenning Huber added the junior women’s 12.5km individual to the mixed relay gold she won with Boe and Christiansen.

She clocked 39:13.7 after recording just one penalty with Russian Olga Galich second in 40:37.6 and Italian Nicole Gontier further behind in 40:51.6.
